    Post  theangryschnoodle 22.04.11 23:25

It looks like my team and I might be going to this.
    http://www.fuldagap.com/airsoft.shtml
This will be our first time attending Fulda Gap so it would be cool if those who have been could maybe share some info on what it was like, how organized it was compared to games here, etc. I'm also wondering about the full face mask rule for under 18. Is that enforced? For me that's kind of a deal breaker, I really can't stand a mask outdoors. It also said that you have to have full seal eyewear but I saw people with shooting glasses in the videos. Also, what is the field like? From all the pictures and videos I've seen it looks like they've removed most of the trees. For those who went, what would be the best way to practice to get ready for the event?

If this is the wrong place to post this please let me know.
    Thanks,
    TAS.

Very large and built up field, the structures and bunkers are impressive to say the least. You will have lots of people to shoot at. Warsaw is notorious for having fewer amounts of players, and usually is on the losing side, though I can say having played for Warsaw even though we lost it was still very fun. Small teams can make a big difference if they can get behind enemy lines. Objectives are extremely simple, night play is decent. You and your team will have a good time.

The field is heavily wooded, but with a large amount of clearings, which usually contain multiple structures. There are also many structures inside of the woods, as well as dug out bunker systems. Best way to practice for this game is gunna be by playing in the woods. Last year DaggerUnit got MostValuableTeam at the event, we used patrolling tactics, which are made for use in the woods, thats how wooded the area is Razz

I am very interested to hear people's experiences with this game too since Team AARP looks like we are going to try to make it this year...

We think that we'll go Warsaw because they are on the attack. We're arguing over Multicam or DCU. What color is the field around that time of year? I was watching some video from GT around that time and it was brown and green. I just want to wear DCU so I won't have to buy Multicam haha. If any more people would like to share their experience that would be great. We look forward to seeing AARP there if everything goes right for us.

No. There is a separate paintball scenario that happens at a different time.

It'll be approaching winter at the time. The field will be pretty leafy but also still very green. DCUs won't be as effective as MultiCam, MultiCam is gunna beat out DCU everywhere except for the Desert, hence the title. But it should work fine for you anyways, expect very long lines of fire, bottle necks, etc. Gear out for a prolonged fight against enemies that will have direct contact with you. Unless you are on the designated "SpecOps" teams for either side you don't really need to worry about camoflouge integrity too much.

Even though I agree with Aggressor about the field and its lavish layout I personally didn't enjoy it too much. Not worth the drive or money. The field is great but while playing we all encountered a TON of cheating. And to add onto this, when I was with a random group of guys defending the town with the enemies literally running into the open getting mowed dowm with NO cover other than a crappy smoke greande. Even though they had NOTHING at all to cover them, they "managed" to get to little cover in front of us. And then to make it amusing is when a ref is standing right over them calling them out they argue with the refs for a good 5 mins. I never even though something like that would ever happen. When you shot people they would flick you off which again is a wtf kind of thing. If they were making a rush at a base and were getting shot up but didnt know where from, they would just play it off. Alot of poor sportsmenship, and a fight almost broke out between a kid around 13 years old with a 18 or older person bc the kid shot him once thinking he was still in. The guy flipped and came after the kid and was in his face. All of the players who were out grabbed the guy. In all I didn't like the players.

I'd like to go. If I do, I'll just work extra hard to make sure my red dot is zero'd. That way I can go for head/face/neck shots Very Happy cheers

Several of us (TBJ) went last year and had a blast (as Nato AT team 1). We're going back again this year, will be Warsaw Pact this time though since they tend to be outnumbered.

It was last year's Fulda Gap that convinced me to finally get off my increasingly large butt and build my tank (as seen at The Delimitation Conflict). Up and down the hill(s) to respawn, over and over again...its fine when you're 20, not so much fun at 40+. This time I'll be mechanized.

I hope this isn't necroposting... but here goes:
We're starting to look at pre-registering, we've got a few things to sort out with scheduling but its almost a yes. What unit are most of ya'll planning on registering as? It'd be fun to play with guys from GA most of the time. And if we do go we might buy some Georgia state flag patches off Amazon to represent. Here's the list of units straight from the website.

    1. 39th Guards Motorized Rifle Division (HQ- Gotha)
    2. 172nd Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment (HQ- Ohrdruf)
    3. East German Infantry Regiment (HQ- Meiningen)
    4. Czechoslovakian Paratroopers (enters game at 1200 Saturday)
    5. Soviet Special Operational Forces- Spetsnaz (by General's assignment only)

We opted for 39th Guards Motor Rifles, although there is actually nothing keeping you from wandering all over the field, and/or playing alongside any other group.

AARP is going (about 10-12 of us) but we are going Nato 8th. We wanted to shoot at Keith and his tank! Wink I really have not heard of any other GA players going up which is very sad. I am sure more will try as the date grows closer.

Nato registration has (temporarily) closed, except for members of teams that have already registered as Nato and got their unit assignments, to allow Warsaw Pact to catch up some in numbers. If you're planning on going and haven't already registered, plan to go Warsaw Pact (tan).

Yes, while the American Association of Retired People is an organization for senior citizens, it is also a North Georgia airsoft team comprised of over-25 people, and a great bunch of guys. They're on the Nato side, so you get to shoot the living **** out of them for 2 days if you sign up for Warsaw Pact.
