No mosfet needed. 9.6 doesnt have enough amperage to cause damage

I have seen a P90 run on a custom setup of 72 D batteries. It eventually just sheared all the gears to nothing, and shattered the piston.
but to keep on subject, You dont really ever NEED a mosfet, but it is a welcome upgrade to prolong the life of your rifle. Every battery will eventually wear out your trigger, even a 8.4v nimh. This is due to the design of the trigger system in an AEG. A mosfet will simply turn the trigger into a true resistance remote swith instead of a current sustaining part of the circuit as it is now.

if you want to tear up a gearbox, use 48v
as for mosfets, i make my own now so it doesn't matter what battery i use, it's part of my basic tuning.
