They're banning use of every single civ manufactured m4/m16 magazine BUT the standard Gov't issued mags for your m4/m16. That means no more PMAGs guys. Seriously??? Seriously?? SERIOUSLY?! Idk about you but standard issued m4/m16 mags SUCK. They are the cause of 80% of my malfunctions and they require quite a slap to secure in as opposed to the PMAGS which I haven't had a chance to use yet to an issued US weapon but I compared the PMAG to the standard issue mags when I went to the range with my own personal AR-15. Out of 1000 rounds shot that day with both use of the PMAG and standard issue mags, I would have some sort of a malfunction about every 20-30 rnds in using standard issue mags, and I had only ONE malfunction where it double-fed with a PMAG... Plus the standard issue mags get bent and deformed but the PMAGS don't...

I bet you they'll blame the malfunctions to poor weapons maintenance but c'mon seriously? My AR was so clean when I started shooting that you can lick the chamber off. Yay Army.

Before you know it, they'll ban Magpull magazine assists and any homemade loop on your magazines.

The only thing I can think of is some sort of logistical advantage to using ONLY issued magazines. Not that it would be advantageous to the individual infantry soldier. I don't know where to look or who to ask in relation to this though. My gut tells me it has something to do with a "why did we purchase all of these magazines if no one is using them? better make it mandatory to use them"

For you guys that are in, or going in, load no more than 28 rds in that GI issue mag. It really helps with the jamming/feeding issue. Also, tap, don't SLAM, the spine of the mag. This helps insure the rounds are all seated at the rear of the mag. Also, also, tap, don't SLAM, the mag into the mag-well. This will help keep rounds from popping out and messing up the feed cycle.

I hate that stupid decision's are made by people who really should know better, but don't.

I never really load my mags more than 25 rounds coz the spring does lose tension overtime. I hate maintenance on the GI mags. Plus yeah I had to be a bit more carefully when reloading, those things deform pretty easy.

I honestly cant see this being enforced. I have heard nothing about this, and we are using Pmags over here.

I think this will be overturned.

Everytime we deployed, we had to "Be To Standard(Stupid)". Once we got overseas, it was "run what ya brung", as long as you were away from the "Flagpole".

    stupid people with rank.........uunnggghhhhh

Or maybe the manufacturer called up and said, "Wait I thought we had a deal about you using our mags."

That's funny coz I just learned too that some units can order PMAGs directly from supply. The article says it too.

I actually had the discussion with a Air Force EOD about this matter in transit to Korea. He told me that he can see a few reason such as the polymer body expanding under extreme heat and having tendencies to shatter under extreme cold conditions. But he has personally told me that he did prefer the PMAGs over any GI mags because of it's awesome fit into magwells and lesser tendencies to cause malfunctions.

I have seen P mags run over by Mraps, after nbeing out in 120 degree heat, and experiencing temperature changes of 40-50 degrees between day and night.

And guess what? they still didnt break, nor did they cause a jam or a double feed.

I mean that's how it usually is when you're out there doing your job and no one of importance is watching. Say the Paladin's hooking up part when you do a fire mission. It wastes about 2-4 seconds and you have to retrieve the lanyard every time you shoot so sometimes my chief goes "You know what just finger pop it" so I reach in and trigger it by hand (just gotta remember to pull your hand back fast enough or you're gonna be hurting for a week).

Units will ALWAYS have their way of doing the little things regardless of policy.
