Very nice, but just one question. If you're running real NVG's isn't it a good idea to use a real helmet? That's what most people have told me at least. Not sure how big of a difference it makes but I'd want to protect my investment as much as I could. Awesome helmet though.

not using real NVG's in this pic, but my replicas that i use for show.

I only use my real NVGs during night games. I'd rather not lose 3 grand running around in the daytime with real NVGs lol

its not the tie downs getting snagged, its the nods themselves, especially when its flipped up over the helmet. gets annoying lol

Check out my photobucket page...GAandy....I have pic's of my ACH with a NVG retention strap I made. I made it from shock cord and a small fastex clip. Super easy and cheap.

Twitch, you might want to check it out as well, unless you have an SOP and "must" do it that way.

What is the cable for? I am not familier with PVS-14's needing/using a seperate power source other than the AA's. If this is the plastic helmet and not ballistic, is it front heavy at all, even with your real NOD's?

the cable is for A/V output so i can record what the nods are seeing.

with the real nods, the IBH is front heavy but as long as your straps are in check, its not an issue. Stays in place for the most part. I dont have any issues with it at all.

edit: and to be totally honest, the cable is just there for poops and giggles, mainly just for show. Im all about looking 1337 lol. I dont have a way to record video yet but i might just try buying a small camera with an a/v input on it and just record straight to that.

Have you tried a different chin strap? I think the one I bought for my issue ACH is from Gentec. They have 2 different styles. They are super nice. Also, a few gear sites have "ballast" that you can attach to the rear of your helmet. Usually it is a small pouch that holds extra batteries for the NOD's as well as an MS200 strobe. It does not add a lot of weight. Just enough to help counter the weight up front.

never had a problem with the strap so i never really thought to look into getting a new one.

looked up the ballast and it seems very nice, might have to pick one up. haha

I have the "X" nape. I got it in the wrong size, but it still works great. You can adjust it to pull to front back and keep it from sagging. It's awesome. About $40 or I think at Ranger Joe's.
