Just sayin'. My Grandpa told me a story once about how he kept calling his M1 Carbine a gun. After the third time his NCO caught him, he was punished. He had to report to the base commander three times a day and say "This is my rifle, this is my gun. With this I fight and with this I have fun.", like from Full Metal Jacket. After two weeks they got tired of it and his punishment was over. He said he never called it a gun again.

Re: my new gun
If you decide to get the acog, I highly encourage you to look into a eotech with magnifier combo. They're considerably cheaper than an acog and much more versatile.
Good deal btw.
Paul you can get a new DTI (Del-Ton Inc.) AR with magpul furniture for $749 + tax at ga gun store in Gainesville, ga.
Www.gagunstore.com. Best prices on any firearms and accessories I've found.

Re: my new gun
Paul I went here http://www.eastmangunshows.com/default.asp and the dealer I brought from is this http://www.thearbunker.com/
Though most of the higher end ARs were in the $1000 range, ive seen some ARs that sell for lower than $750 some of which included the Bushmaster carbon (plastic), and several DPMS versions.
@Alex im not sure how to distinguish gas piston ARs from the other but ill check when I get home

back in the day, if you don't mind putting the lower receiver together and matching the top, you can build a really nice one for $400. although, i haven't checked current prices.

Re: my new gun
I Don't think you can find an upper alone for under $400 anymore, it would be tough to find one for under $500 in most places.
Paul, I forgot about the deal be has on a rock river arms AR now.
I've seen and held one of these and they're very very nice.

Re: my new gun
Yeah, Most rail systems now are anywhere from 200-400. The only way to get a cheap upper anymore is if you get one with a standard handguard and nothing fancy on it.

You just have to hunt for the lowest priced AR and just dress it up as you go. I'm sure Twitch will tell you anything you want with ARs. I'm surprised about how cheap they were. I was expecting it to be about $900+ but damn they have one as low as $600 but that's base model with no optics/sights, crappy stock, crappy handguard, etc.
