soooo....im thinking about trading my vsr10 gspec (tm) for an upgraded psg-1 on airsoft ohio forums. does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this gun? and do you think this trade would be worth it?

this is the link to it.

    http://www.airsoftohio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26539

    1. Systema torque up gears
    2. Systema aluminum piston
    3. Systema torque up motor
    4. Systema full teeth piston
    5. Systema shims
    6. Systema metal spring guide
    7. Systema anti-revers latch
    8. Prometheus 590mm 6.03 tight bore barrel
    9. Systema bucking
    10. Silencer adapter counter clock wise

the guy is ready to trade it when i am, but i have heard that psg-1s are not very good and are difficult to sell or replace parts. so i would rather keep my gspec then get a gun that isnt that great and is also difficult to sell. any info is appreciated. thanks.

I think I read reviews on them and the scope that comes with them are bound to become loose and break off, but a G3 or MP5 mount like the one I'm selling should fit for a nice scope, can't be sure it will though. But PSG1's are pretty much customized G3's, maybe a few differences, like the scope, motor grip, stock, and barrel.

I have also heard but not confirmed that the gearbox is irreplaceable unless of course u buy another gun. also he says it has the Aluminum Piston which is helical and the Systema Full tooth piston? That doesn't make sense, for the helical piston u run helical gears and for the full tooth piston u have to run full tooth gears, so I don't know which gear set is currently installed if it is full tooth or helical but that will affect what piston u can use. Also I was talking to Ryan about throwing a Helical Aluminum piston in my sr because they are the same style and he said that he has heard they r garbage. Parts r definitely not easy to find, and r expensive when u do find them.

hhmmm his combo of gears/piston or lack of knowledge of what is in his gun is suspicious. i'll ask him. i am leaning towards the "no" side.

Yeah I just dont get why he would post up two pistons that r completely different from eachother that cant run the same gearset

I agree with Russell, they make differant pistons for certain gear sets. Helical gears require the special helical piston while reg gears just need a reg piston such as the Element ultra from Airdog. You can't use Helical gears with a reg piston or a helical piston with reg gears, and I'm not a gun tech but I can tell you that

Reed had one back in the day, and he said he didn't like it. I say keep the vsr-10 and if you want something to blow that psg-1 out of the water then get an SR-25. The only thing that the psg-1 has going for it is the uniqueness. Most of us have never gotten to play with a psg-1.

That's what I thought, PSG1's would be another unique gun just like my TM Thompson is or an AGM Sten

The Spring Charges before you shoot (i.e.- After you shoot your 1st shot, it charges the spring, you pull the trigger again, it shoots then charges the spring again) it has a small lever that you pull to release the spring for storage.

Mine was alright, a little creaky on the outside and some parts felt weak. It jammed up alot which made you take the WHOLE gearbox out, no full auto. I guess that won't happen to yours because you will have it upgraded with a lipo I assume. The scope wobble a bit but it was easily fixed with some properly placed electrical tape.
