    Battery Question Empty Battery Question

    Post  RIP 13.09.10 21:57

I have a Combat machine M4 and I want to run an 11.1v Lipo on full auto
The only upgrade I have on it now is a Magnum motor
What else do I need to put into the gun to be able to use the 11.1 and not fry my gun?
Only thing I can think of is a mosfet, but do I need to add any reinforced parts?
Heres the gun I have http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_302&products_id=6266

i was told to wait for it to break, then upgrade it...
i'm doing just that. had issues with the motor, so i ordered a matrix magnum.
my son's jg m4 suffered a melted wire harness, so i'm going to upgrade all our guns wires/connectors to deans.
once i get my tavor fixed, i'll add a 7.2 lipo to it.

also, it doesn't hurt to upgrade the hopup bucking. madbull blue seems to be popular. i'm also gona try out that H nub to see if it makes a difference. if you haven't yet, get a cheap chrono from china. it's great to see the fps improvements from doing little adjustments.

yeah I already have a matrix magnum and the gun is wired for the lipo I got from airdog
Thats a good idea (wait for the piston to break) Ill do that.

what happens if I use a 7.4V lipo with a discharge rate of 30c-40C?
Will it give me a higher rate of fire?
    What does discharge rate mean?

from what i've read, higher voltage increases rate of fire, and discharge rate allows for longer continuous use (longer battery life before recharging). i'm not a fan of high rof (uses up more bb's and speeds up wear and tear on moving parts). i prefer torque over speed so 7.2v will do me fine.

lipos are not 7.2 they are 7.4 because lithium polymer batteries have 3.7 volts per cell so 2 cells= 7.4 and 3 cells= 11.1

So then you have a mah rate and a "C" rate
take your mah rate and divide it by 1000 soooo lets say 3200/1000 that gives us 3.2 amps
then take your amp number and multiply it by the "C" rating soooo lets say it's 15c vs. 20c vs. 25c
After doing this you get your constant amperage so that would be 48, 64, 80 amps respectively.
    So here is your formula:
    [(x)/1000]*C= y
    x is your mah
    C is your "C" rating
    y is your constant amperage
You can then decide on a lipo to get

it will hold it's charge longer. i don't think it will increase rof. as with voltage, higher C ratings usually increases the size of the battery.

^No, the mAh rating determines how long the battery will last. The C rating will influence RoF, to a point. 30C is about all that you need.

C rating will increase rate of fire just by plugging it into the formula. You get more amps running then your motor is going to turn faster. Trying to give you an exact formula for your gun is pretty much useless because every gun is different and you have to factor in gear ratios, motor speeds, and a bunch of other crap. So here is the skinny on how long a battery will last is you take your mah rating which stands for milli amps per hour.... so you divide by 1000 again to get your amps per hour. So lets go back to 3200 mah battery. Which the term mah is then again milliamps per hour so divide by 1000 to get 3.2 amps per hour. So that battery can deliver 3.2 amps for 1 hour. Granted you are not using it for an hour straight nor are you only putting out 3.2 amps (see earlier post) but it gives you a bit of an idea.
