here's pix on flipa's fake azimuth. i believe this is the same piston from evike.
found it was broken when we took the mechbox apart to add a mosfet. i have this same piston on my tavor which i'll be removing asap.

The sad thing is, this isn't even the only problem of my gun right now...

That's really not a big deal. As long as the price doesn't get in the gears and lock them up. I have seen a few fake ones do this.

I'm no gun tech but maybe you did something wrong? I know you werent running it to its full capacity. Unless you were doing over 35 rps. Sniper2525, Zerosimple, Rhino and I all have those pistons and there really get some strain put on them. Far more than anyone we know puts on them. Maybe it was just a bad one of the batch or a fake.

Reed put it on. It was on my KWA that had the Prometheus m120 spring, I suspect that I broke it for just one game. It's also not really an Azimuth, it was the Matrix one evike sells. Oh well, other plans for the gun for me.

would it be a bad idea to superglue the teeth rail to the body? it will be running on 450 fps, possibly up to 520 fps.

No need to glue anything, the rack is held in by a lip on the front of the piston. It "should" be fine. As Poop said they normally work fine after that!

i took my fake azimuth out of my p90 and it shows a crack at the end. the p90 has a JBU m120 with aluminum piston head (400 fps).
has less than 500 rounds through it (used it for a few hours at SS Airsoft with mid-caps).

anyone find a place that sells the real azimuth? i have an m150 AEG waiting for a strong piston.

Real azimuth's do not exist anymore I bought every last one that I could find anywhere in the world once they discontinued them. A piston to use that won't fail is a modify quantum but they are pricy

$45 wow, no kidding... i guess it's cheaper than replacing pistons every other game.

here's another failed piston causing a lockup within the cylinder. no operator at fault, just the normal failure on a hi rpm kwa m4. btw, this kwa is really nice (magpul furniture and madbul noveski RIS). sorry no pix on the kwa yet since it's in pieces at the moment.

problem: no fire when trigger pulled on semi-auto or full auto. i figured it would be a simple electrical open circuit. the L-shape lip broke and rammed the metal (teeth)strip into the plastic head spacer causing it to be at an angle and wedging itself against the cylinder.

diagnostic: simple test, opened motor cover, pull trigger and motor spins when not meshed with the gearbox, therefore, gearbox is locked up.

cylinder wall is scored. this will rip any new piston head o-ring.

that modify re-enforced piston is starting to look like a good investment.

edit: the more i think about it, the least likely the broken lip caused the damage. the piston head was loose when i removed it. methinks the screw loosened up and the head wedged causing the lip to break.

They are not real! Real doesn't exist! They were discounted and even if it was real the non full metal tooth ones weren't that great. The first clue that it's not real is it doesn't say azimuth in the auction anywhere.

it was only $10 each with free shipping. when it arrives, i'll check if it's brittle. this isn't for high fps so should be fine for what i'm using them for. what interested me is that they advertised it wasn't mixed with other material which makes it more flexible like the real azimuth.

best way to find out is by testing.
