Re: So what do you think?
^Wrong!
COD has always been a benchmark in high quality video gaming. I played the first Modern Warfare in highschool a bunch but I've missed out on the next few COD games but from what I've read they are all top notch games. Alot of airsoft players hate on it but I mean really we are playing with BB guns whats the difference?
If anything more COD games will just bring more good games into the market. OR die out when the trend runs out, like the death of Guitar Hero/Rock Band, although I don't see COD going down that road...

If you knew the amount of times some 12 year old has told me they knew more about weapons than me because the "saw it on Call of duty" you would understand my hatred for it.

I can understand this. I have a large interest in our current operations in afgahanistan and iraq, and I am so sick of when watching reports or videos from soldiers on youtube there's always some kid commenting somehting about killstreaks or perks and then 50 other D-bags "like" it so it will be directly below the video.
I enjoy the MW series campaign's though. however Battlefield 3 looks SO much better to me. BF online is better to me as well, but I will continue to play them after the wife and son go to bed, until I find a 24 hour airsoft arena that is.

The best COD's are the first ones without a doubt, My absoulute favorite is COD:UO. If your actually good at video games you play that game on the PC, there isnt any of that UAV, drone missiles, eo techs, etc etc, just your standard accurately displayed WWII weapons.

Re: So what do you think?
love playing the games. sadly it's taken a turn from history to scifi with the sweet spot being in the middle (COD 4). its all just entertainment but people need to stop referencing it so much.
common misconceptions that cod losers make about guns that piss me off. everything is an acog site. the gun 'commando' is not a common term to be used interchangable with every m4 variant. guns have selector switches. it doesnt have to be an m16 just because it can shoot 3-shot-burst. and just the overall references to perks in real life.
i personally prefer bf:bc2 and the occasional GoW
(rantfest: the historical inaccuracies really pissed me off. in vietnam you have an m16 with a 20 round magazine yet it hold 30 bullets. the fact that you can use AK74s before 1974... and how the majority of guns in multiplayer have flip-up sights and rails, which werent regularly used until atleast the 90's)

I'll look into it, as long as it is realistic, and there are zombie maps. <- are awesome. and by the way, those kids that think they know about guns from cod, they drive me crazy. i do it the old fashion way, books. ill read them over and over. passes time fast.

and to add, the m16a1 was never issued tri-birst, only full auto. but multi player isnt very reliable for realism.ownage1 wrote:love playing the games. sadly it's taken a turn from history to scifi with the sweet spot being in the middle (COD 4). its all just entertainment but people need to stop referencing it so much.

Re: So what do you think?
I like all of the COD games. They have great multiplayer and the campaign on the last few has been pretty decent. the past ones have just been based of history so it's nice to have one where you don't know what will happen. It's a video game so I don't expect it to be very realistic. I expect it to be fun. Halo isn't realistic at all and it's a GREAT game. BF is another great series. the best one being BF2 for pc. The thing that's irritating is the people who associate everything to COD but that doesn't make me hate the game.

The games are fun, that's all I really care about. It is irritating how the games become asociated with everything involving guns (mainly airsoft) but the games themselves are pretty entertaining. That's all I really ask of a game.

Let me guess, the enemy is Russians? Frankly i'm dissapointed. They ran out of idea and the series needs to die, or take a really long vacation. I usually don't care for most unrealistic things, but when aircraft fly ridiculously close to buildings, it gets annoying. looking forward to battlefield 3. Now don't get me wrong, cod is not all that fail, the player models actually look pretty cool, and decent-ish singleplayer, but other than that i like nothing about it.
mw3 fail in 3...2...1

Re: So what do you think?
I would give whoever's making MW3 now some slack. Remember, these guys who made the game have I assume never fired a gun, have no firearm knowledge aside from the research they did on the firearms in the game, have no military knowledge about military jargon, strategic procedures, SOPs, etc. So rest assured, the game would be not as accurate as real life.
And let's face it, real life combat is usually boring if you're not the one who's fighting in it. These guys are like Hollywood, they want to appeal to the normal person and how do they accomplish that? By adding explosions, crazy unrealistic fight sequences, cliche action scenes, car chases, etc. The chances of having that in a realistic sense is not far from never. Sure if they made the game as realistic as possible, it won't be a game.
I hate that CoD nowadays are subject to heavy criticism when you won't admit it, it's the one of the only few FPS games that do it right. Let's face it, FPS games would copy the concept that CoD4 and MW2 have made popular through their games. Even the controls are similar, the ideas are similar, etc. I remember when you don't even aim down sights in game to shoot someone. CoD4 was one of the first games to do that. I wouldn't judge how the game is until it comes out, though I don't have any hopes of it being better than MW2 since IW is gone. I'd play it sure, if I hate it, I'll just go back to my usual games that I play and won't cry about how they should've made it better.
Edit:
I like how Dice's attention to detail is getting better. Also notice that in the first engagement where you have the M4, when he reloads on zero it goes back to 30, but when he reloads when he still has some rnds in the gun, it goes back to 31 indicating a chambered round + 30 in the magazine. I have a theory that the reloading system might be like Vegas, where if you do a tactical reload the rounds you have left in that mag is gone and dumped away. This forces the player to leave the norm of reloading after killing an enemy which I've seen quite often in FPS games now.

The most realistic weapon game would have to be Tom Clancey's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (GRAW). For PC.

yes, it can be bought on steam (a gaming market/interface for computers) or on a disk at stores http://www.amazon.com/Red-Orchestra-Ostfront-41-45-Pc/dp/B000EY34O6 . it is pretty old though, so graphics aren't great. there is bullet drop, recoil, fire selector switches, leaning against cover steadies your aim, and you never are told how many bullets you have, the info you are given is that you are either putting a heavy(full ammo) mag in your weapon or a light mag (partial ammo in mag). unlike modern games getting into vehicles is not fun, your vision is very restricted by the vehicle. vehicles are still very realistic, but not as fun.
similar to battle field 2 and its realism mod, this game started off as a few people winning a modding contest using the Unreal(unreal tournament) engine.
there is no game more historically accurate than this one.
red orchestra 2 is coming out late 2011, it will have blind firing over cover from the first person perspective(you cant see what your shooting at, unlike in tom clancy games.) it will be so accurate that the game will have actual weapon carrying techniques in it(germans run with weapon in one hand vertically, while russians run with two-handed hold, holding close to chest.) this will help differentiate friend vs foe.
these guys have done there homework. they visited most of the sites in russia that they are putting in the game. crazy thing is with the russian sniper rifle you can dial in your scope to the range and when you move your scope fast, you get those black rings you see from missaligning and the eye relief distance. you can also switch from your scope to your iron sights(russion scope mount does not interefere with iron sights) and adjust your iron sight elevation.

Re: So what do you think?
Actually you know what, I don't mind unrealistic video games. To the Modern Warfare series' defence, I like it that it's sort of a Micheal Bay-esk feel now because that's why I play video games, to do crazy, cool, unrealistic, stuff that I normally can't do in real life or not dare to do in real life. Why else would I be a GTA4 maniac.

Re: So what do you think?
all i have to say is that i love the cod series, black ops being the only exception, and when kids start talking about killstreaks and perks in real life, all i have to say to them is, "you go kill 5 people in a row, if you arent dead or out of amo after the first person, lets see you use 'marathon/lightweight' and run forever without stopping"
