US Army to replace UCP, leading choice is MARPAT

Finally they are replacing the UCP. A leading choice is MARPAT, but the Corp refuses to grant the Army the rights to use it for obvious reasons. Thoughts? They said they have 3 patterns from the industry and 2 from the Gov't to start testing this July. Just go with Multicam guys... You're already using it in Afghanistan.

I thought I had read somewhere that they were going with Multicam. Twitch also stated they were in his Atacs thread recently.

MultiCam! That way you don't have to get two different uniforms. I don't understand how UCP was chosen for any kind of use anyways...

Crye Associates may not want to give up there rights to the pattern. If the Govt gets control of the pattern they can have anyone make it and Crye wouldn't get a cut. I believe this is also what was going on with Glock, when the Army was looking to make them the official pistol of the military.

We are using Multicam...but we are not using multicam...if you catch my drift.

What we get is like off brand multicam most of the time...Its called Operational Camouflage Pattern...so its not exactly multicam...

Kin of like what the british did with "Multi Terrain" instead of Multicam.

NO! YOU CAN'T HAVE MARPAT!

It wouldn't be MARPAT, thats copyrighted. It would be called AOFPAT (Army Operational Forces PATtern) or something like that. SOCCOM has already starting allowing the use of ATACS for some SOF units.

The British Multi-Terrain pattern was actually an original pattern developed by Crye using a similar design of the pre-existing DPM with the color combination of the Multicam pattern.

Yes I know Jimmy. But the Brits couldnt have just gone with Multicam? Did they have to be different and give multicam a DPM look?

and now the Aussies have asked Crye for a new pattern....will it ever end? Im going broke trying to keep up with camo.
