While I was only 8 when this happened, the event of this day 10 years ago really changed the world we live in now and theres no doubt about that. The lasting effects to this country were good and bad. While the attacks united the country as a whole during a time of war it also caused more paranoia by some towards Muslim-Americans. Now its the norm to see enhanced security checks at borders and airports, or grow suspicious over an unattended package. I visited ground zero in 2003, and also this past july as well as touring inside the pentagon in the part where the plane impacted, and i can visualize the true extent of the damage.
RIP to all those killed on this day and honor the brave people, military, firefighters, police, and civilians alike who decided to face danger in order to prevent the further loss of life (some of which who died in the process) and remember those who lost their lives on this day.
