may depend on were you live....local laws....don't think they are illegal within the state.hell they sell them all over the place.though if you get one for use spend the extra dough and get a balisong...

Legally, you can own one if your over 18. But you cannot carry it around on you unless you have a concealed weapons permit. Again I say legally.

where do you get your info?Newnan Airsoft Player wrote:Legally, you can own one if your over 18. But you cannot carry it around on you unless you have a concealed weapons permit. Again I say legally.
knife laws (other than switch blades) are by blade length
try this
go to local army surplus store.
say can i see that butterfly knife.
say are there any laws pertaining to ownership.a surplus store can tell you this,a flee market will not.

Lies. They're legal to own in GA regardless of age. You can carry them, just not concealed (pocket clip=good to go.)Newnan Airsoft Player wrote:Legally, you can own one if your over 18. But you cannot carry it around on you unless you have a concealed weapons permit. Again I say legally.

I guess you'd have to define ownership, you can't walk into a gas station, or retail store and buy a knife unless your 18. Due to the length of the blade, it is not considered a "pocket knife".Admin wrote:Lies. They're legal to own in GA regardless of age. Once again, not true. GA has no law whatsoever regarding the age you have to be to purchase a knife.

I convinced my dad after pleading and begging for him to buy me a sidefolding knife one time when I was 13. He said I would cut myself folding it up, but he finally buckled. 3 days later, 5 stitches across my index finger, cut right to the bone, folding it up.

Re: butterfly knives <=== with a V
lol....been using knives since i got my first pocket knife at 6...the only time i cut myself was the first time i used a butterfly and grabbed the wrong handle to flip it closed...the key with them is just remembering to always hang on to the handle that is on the same side as the back of the blade...after you've make an effort to do that it will just become second nature through practice...
