So I was watching the news today, and I saw a report on voilence and firefights in Afghanistan, in the video clips was a U.S. soldier, with his M4 with a magazine slapped inside thrown to the ground behind him, as he fired around a corner with a dirty old AK47 with a broken stock. Looks like the M16 has been replaced

EDIT: I also just saw a few soldiers on patrol in Afghanistan on the news, one of them had his M16 slung across his back and fielded a foldingstock AK47.

If you've seen the series Generation Kill, Cpt. America is the only thing I can think of when I see an American Soldier or Marine with an AK47. And I can see that it may be hazardous, if others around you don't know you are shooting one (muzzle report is distinctively different than the M4)

True enough, but what would you rather have, the ability to fire back, or sit there with a big piece of metal in your hands.

The ability to fire back does provide you with distinct advantages in a firefight if I am not mistaken

Well personally, I like having a hunk of metal in my hand, but thats just me, lol. But what I'm saying is, if you choose to pick up and AK and sling your working M4. Of course if my M4 is down (as in NOT WORKING), I would use the AK, I wouldn't like it, but its better than pointing and shouting "BANG! BANG!".

You could just shout BLASTOISE instead. That sounds scary and might keep peoples heads down.

I have had good experience with shouting BANG BANG on FTXs. It always works there.

Shouting BLASTOISE and ZAPDOS will get you more kills, they are the 7.62 of the hoo-ah bullet series.

this is a little old, but about the 416... HK is expensive for mass quantities and if you havent noticed, no offense to any liberals, our congress is almost entirely libral and probably wont give a crap about giving our troops nice weapons, but other than that im 416 all the way

Man, if there's one thing that the government doesn't mind, it's throwing ungodly amounts of money at situations. My dad has sold elevators for gov. projects, and those profit margins are RIDICULOUS. It's not a matter of they won't spend the money, it's a matter of they'd rather buy high-tech gadgets (cough F-22, F-35, OICW, Future Combat Systems, BCT Modernization, naval railguns, chemical lasers)...
Honestly, DARPA is the most useless, money-sucking organization I've ever even heard of. Honestly, the only (D)ARPA programs that were even relatively worth it were ARPANET and the Predator program.

F22 is no more I believe, because of the F 35.

And I mean if you've seen Transformers 2, naval rail guns are amazing. Totally worth it when giant pyramid destroying robots come.

when considering something like this you also have to consider price the scar is an expensive gun to make thats why only a few special forces use it saying that im not sure whats coming next

I only said I liked it... and besides you guys all worry about cost, how much does a SCAR cost anyways maybe like 4-5K? Idk but I mean the govt. spends infinitely more than that on other stuff. Plus how many of the 1.5 or whatever million people in the Army are actually Infantry or require a rifle? certainly not 1.5 mil. I mean I doubt it will happen but they could possibly not produce a few tanks or missiles or something and replace all the M16s and M4s if they wanted to.

IIrc there is a bunch of rangers fielding the scar now.

When I was talking to a Navy Coremen that worked at airsoft Atlanta, he told me that they disliked the XM8, tried the SCAR but didn't really have too much improvements for a new rifle right off the line.... And pretty much that everyone has gone back to the good old M4. And M16. I think the guns still have atleast another 3 years left in them.
