im considering getting the new tavor that came out and am not exactly sure how i feel about the polycarbonate gearbox or how well the internals are in general. if anyone can shed any light on how well this thing can perform and if it can last a while, and also what length motor it uses i would appreciate it greatly. thanks.

this is a new AEG, no one else has any experience with it. you should post a review after you've opened it up.

We Airdog have them in stock. I personally dont think the Poly gear box will be a problem. But as most of your guys know I do a lot of work on Tavors from around the US and Canada and I plan to do the same on the S&T's. I plan on opening one up on Tuesday and doing a video of the internals and what I think about it. I will keep you guys posted.

It might be a problem but with sorbo buffer and radius mechbox corners, I doubt you'll have any problems with the front snapping off at normal m120 use.

Sorbo is not the answer for everything but to get back on topic. I just finished my review on the S&T Tavor and I am in the process of uploading it now. Hopefully I should have it posted before 7pm today.

Have you ever heard of r-hop? Flat hop? If you have, you will know this is more than possible especially with higher weight ammo, like .4 bb's.poopdaddy wrote:Weaponssurefire pigeon wrote:It might be a problem but with sorbo buffer and radius mechbox corners, I doubt you'll have any problems with the front snapping off at normal m120 use.

Can you please stay on topic! Yes we have heard of R-hop. This topic is about the S&T Tavor not sorbo, radius gear box corners or R-hop

Okay, sorry for the meandering. Just replying to the post made about my weapon. Anyway I am interested in seeing your video.
Actually, can you comment on the gears (steel?), piston assembly, compression parts? Don't know if it will be in your video or not. The screw inserts for the plastic gearbox, are they metal? If not can you see someone easily stripping one?

It *might* actually be a good thing since it's so light.

There is nothing wrong with a Poly gear box. I have hooked a crossman plastic gear box up to a 22.2 volt lipo which is actually 25.2 volts and ran it full auto until the motor smoked and through sparks and couldn't break it the shell or the plastic gears. this is not a cheaply made gear box.
