Well, the airsoft industry of California is at risk again. For those that don't know, Evike, Airsoft GI, and more, are based out of California. California bill SB 1315 will authorize Los Angeles county and any cities within the county to enact and enforce an ordinance or resolution that is more restrictive than state law regulating the manufacture, sale, possession, or use of any BB device, toy gun, replica of a firearm, or other device that is so substantially similar in coloration and overall appearance to an existing firearm as to lead a reasonable person to perceive that the device is a firearm and that expels a projectile that is no more than 16 millimeters in diameter. This bill will destroy the airsoft industry of California, and possibly the rest of the country, and may lead to other states enacting laws similar to this. I know most of us are in Georgia, but we need to step up and help our brothers and sisters of airsoft on the west coast.

no, that was SB 798. this bill will allow Los Angeles county and any city within the county to impose their own regulations, which could lead to cities within LA county passing ordinances similar to SB 798.Miracle wrote:Is the bill making all airsoft guns in California neon colors?
i think they are trying to. airsoft beat SB 798, i think we can beat this one too.TheRealBandit wrote:sounds like they are getting rid of it completely
a little 16 year old pointed an airsoft pistol at a cop and the cop shot him. they need to blame the parents, not the airsoft industry.Blackhawk 5 wrote:typical california,

in the beginning of 798 the paintball industry was targeted until the bill was changed. paintball was on airsoft's side, but once the bill was changed, they betrayed it.
if this bill passes not only will LA county cities be free to impose their own regulations on imitation firearms, but the surrounding counties will follow suit. cities will have differences in their regulations, meaning if one city says the guns have to be orange and another says they need to be yellow, you will break city laws while driving to an event. not only that, we will also stick out like sore thumbs. if California falls to this bill, other states will follow. thats why I'm concerned with this. if Cali falls, so will other states, and Georgia's airsoft will eventually be at risk. we cant allow this to happen, even if we are on the other side of the country.
holy crap... rant mode

The problem partially lies in the fact that almost all airsoft related "bad press" happens because of some stupid kid in the city playing with their guns in view of the public. Stupid kids who use their airsoft guns in pranks and inappropriately located "wars" basically give the sport a reputation as a game for children, and therefore, the guns must made and sold child proof.
Making the guns neon orange won't fix the problems, if anything idiots will be less afraid to take their guns into the public. Most of us remove the orange tip on the end of the guns currently available now; What's to stop anyone from just repainting the neon gun black after they get it? Also, the color of a gun doesn't really indicate the lethality of it - I could paint any real steel neon and still kill people with it. Simply put - the silhouette of a gun is enough for some panicky mother to call the cops. Kids with Nerf guns have the cops called on them too, and kids who think it's cool to paint their toy guns black have the same chance of being shot to death as an irresponsible airsofter.
The solution? Make all non-real steel guns shaped like kittens and flowers, ban non-real steel guns from earth, or teach some friggin gun safety to these kids.
Yeah, I hate kids...

its irresponsible kids that are the problem. if people would sit the retards down and tell them what might happen if they take airsoft guns out in public, they MIGHT listen. i say might because some people are still like "F*** the police!"

hey guys, SB1315 passed Monday at the California State Assembly level. If the governor signs it, it will become LAW. This is farther than the SB798 got!
