Yes they would just you need a mechbox with the 7mm holes. Standard ones are only 6mm

Not a good idea, has been done but I wouldn't recommend it, it isn't nearly as simple as it looks. It isnt just a strait hole through it, it is got a bevel to it. Even if you manage to do that if you don't center it perfectly the gears won't mesh properly.

Ahh, that's a good point. Didn't think about the bevel, that could be tricky seeing as I have to special tools.

yea but once you get the special tools you will have spent more than just a new shell.

I'm thinking about taking my gun to a friend's house. His dad is a retired Ford mechanic and brought all of his tools with him - no joke, his basement looks like Ace Hardware on roids.

If the guy has a lot of CNC experience (which he might if he was a mechanic for a long time as it's not uncommon for a mechanic to have to machine a part that isn't made anymore), then he'd probably be able to make a gearbox. But if the gun already has 7mm holes, the you wouldn't need to. Just don't take a dremel or a drill to your gearbox to widen the holes as it could cause the gears to not mesh properly, and would do more harm than good.
