I just got my gun 2 days ago and it is awesome. very solid feeling, accurate, and powerful. I havent chronoed it yet but ill be shocked if its less than 400fps. That bein said the hop up leaves somethin to be desired. The best i can do with it still has my rounds skyin after 35 yds. What is the difference between hop up and hop bucking. Any suggestions on which one and a good unit to install would be greatly appreciated. Can any supressor be filled with foam to help dampen the noise? With slings does bungees vs static make a noticeable difference. Thanks for the help.

Re: Echo1 Barrett Recon 7 build help
What is the difference between hop up and hop bucking
The hop up bucking is the rubber cover that goes over your barrel, its very obvious when you take apart the hop-up. The hop-up is the metal or plastic peace that the barrel goes into. Also a Hop-up nub is the plastic or rubbed part that is pushed into the rubber, making an indentation of rubber into the barrel.
Any suggestions on which one and a good unit to install would be greatly appreciated
If your hop up chamber (the metal or plastic part;same as hop-up mentioned above) is metal you are good to go. If not:

And for the bucking:

Many people say no but I have had several foam filled silencers that take the "pop" of air rushing out of the barrel away, however the noise from the gearbox is still there.
With slings does bungees vs static make a noticeable difference.
Bungee slings are 99% 1 point slings that attach to one point of you gun(Duh!) and are slung around you neck. Static are usually 2 or 3 point. I like 1 point slings for short lightweight guns and 3 point slings for long guns

Re: Echo1 Barrett Recon 7 build help
Thanks for the advice. Can the hop up in my gun be tweeked to give me a larger range of spin or do I have to put an entire new unit in to get less hop up. Also do heavier bbs respond less to hop up?

No, the hopup is adjustable. Just pull back the charging handle (located on the gun right above where the stock connects to the receiver. One it's pulled back, hold it back and look on the right side of the gun. The ejection port will be open. There will be a wheel/gear inside of the ejection port. Just turn the wheel to adjust the hopup.

Re: Echo1 Barrett Recon 7 build help
iv done that already. At full hop up the bbs go straight up after 10 ft, at no hop up the go up after 35 yds. so i need less hop up than the unit in my gun allows for. I was wondering if i could diassemble the unit in my gun and move its range so that I could get less hop up than it allows for now

Shoot about a thousand rounds through it. Sometimes new hopup buckings are too hard, and need to be broken in.

The Condor Bungie one point sling is excellent actually. Hasn't given me any problems. As for the silencer JBU's can be foam filled and are availible at AA. Agressor Dog swears they help.

Re: Echo1 Barrett Recon 7 build help
Iv got around 1200 rounds through it so far and it does seem to be flattening out. If this continues alittle more I wont need a new hop up. Thanks for the help

Yep, it'll be fine.maverick wrote:Iv got around 1200 rounds through it so far and it does seem to be flattening out. If this continues alittle more I wont need a new hop up. Thanks for the help
To make it break in a little faster, turn the hopup all of the way on when you shoot.

Re: Echo1 Barrett Recon 7 build help
I am thinkin about getttin a Prometheus NEO Hop Up. But airsoftatlanta and airsoftgi list different parts coming with the chamber. Is Hop unit, adjustment wheel, barrel lock and spacer everything? I realize that the bucking and buffer rubber are separate. Also what is considered the fps guideline for hard vs soft bucking, I have read anywhere from 400-450fps. Thanks for the help.

If you have never dissassembled a gun I would advise bringing it to airdog, because you will lose the bucking and possbily the spring and have to replace it, but turn it somewhere in the middle, you dont have to have it all the way up or down.
