    Post  ownage1 15.11.10 23:15

ive been looking to install my arsenal with mosfets, ive already got some offers from people on this forum(and will gladly buy one from here if i ever go to an airsoft game =\ ) so i was looking around and found this
    http://www.khmountain.com/airsoft/product_info.php?products_id=1799 . this is a 12$ mosfet with a fuse.
my question is: is it too good to be true? and does it have active breaking?

Eh, I've seen shoddy China mosfets (like the one in the JG/E1 AUG A3) do more harm than good.

    i don't think its AB
but at 12 bucks-they build a lot of the guns we use
and you could get two and set it up outside your gun with plugs so you could quick
change if it failed in a game

i think i will order some
    maybe a good find

i have one of those but haven't installed it yet.
i have one from reed, one from infected airsoft, one from extreme fire, and one from KHM.
the one from infected airsoft melted.
the one from extreme fire was the most expensive and has a thermal breaker.
too many projects at the moment to install the mosfets.

As usual dont waste your time with china crap.. Get a well built american made mosfet like reeds or ryans both are great. Like I tell everyone save up a little more cash and buy quality instead of trying to pinch pennies and end up spending more on china crap bc you will have to replace it in the end.

that's a very broad statement. IBM laptops have been made by Lenova (chinese company) and it's one of the more durable laptops in the business world. as for airsoft, it's an expensive hobby. finding cheaper alternatives keeps me on the playing field. i haven't checked, but aren't the mosfet components foreign made?

Im not talking about laptops last time i checked this was an airsoft forum but i could be wrong.... And im talking about the assembly process of mosfets because that actually does make a difference. Here's a great example, i remember a customer at the shop had bought a JG m4 if i remember right from some online store. He got the gun because it was CHEAP! He ended up paying alot of money in repairs just because china makes crap internals. In the end he could of bought a nice KWA G&P or G&G. So the sum of my story is 90 percent of the time when it comes to internals especialy mosfets china makes crap stuff. Dont get me wrong i buy china externals like optics, buis, grips, etc.

um actually generealy speaking when high end guns break down its a lemon. A perfet example to prove you wrong is my friend G&G m4 proling ran a 11.1 lipo 20c for almost 7 months completely stock untile we opened it up to install a mosfet and make it a high rof gun. It is now doing 30 plus rps and has been running like this for over a year with no problems.

from what i've read about other mosfets doing that, it didn't have any type of protection. i recommend fuse protection. the cheap KHM has a mini fuse in it. ryan mentioned that the mosfet on that video was made by infected. mosfets are very sensitive and a simple unregulated voltage spike can damage it. in my case, a bad battery i had with low voltage melted the mosfet.

i'm not saying that infected products suck, it's just the nature of mosfets being sensitive and prone to failure.

I don't care who makes the product for the AEG's as long as it is a quality product with quality control at the manufacturing level. Some parts made in china have good manufacturing, other products are produced in sweatshops with 14 year old kids making electrical components from some Russia supplied 3rd world country's space program that failed 50 years ago... because the parts are on the low low. I will be sticking with quality products made by qualified people with some good quality control, and product backing. So REED I need a AB MOSFET...

the KHM mosfet has the fuse soldered onto the board. sux. looks like that fuse needs to be desoldered off and a thermal breaker installed. still haven't installed it, just finished installing reed's mosfet on a p90 (no fuse protection cause an inline will not fit, the mosfet is taking up the space).

reed, put a resettable thermal protection on your mosfets and i'll buy 5 off you.

    -a|ex

edit: i just installed the KHM on the other p90. it's not AB but for $7.00, whadaya expect... for this price, i doubt it will be able to handle high voltage LiPo's.

update on the KHM mosfet: i was mistaken, the fuse is not soldered. i cut the insulation down to expose the base of the fuse and it's not a soldered fuse (replaceable fuse). also, it has not showed any problems after a few days at both SS airsoft and Golden Eagle. i ordered a few more and will replace the SW-AB-Long on the Tavor (the AB is not allowing the spring to pre-cock/pre-compress).

on the other hand, the AB works great with the p90's. i don't have to release the anti-reverse before completely disassembling the gearbox.

Tavor's are not suppose to pre-cock and that is the point of an A/B mosfet! Hence the Active braking.

The only gun I can think of off the top of my head that is suppose to pre-cock is a PSG-1
