Just threw this up to get the crap of Admin's thread.

Spectre I think that with the slow shots of sniper rifles the CO2 is fine. I am not completely versed in how they work, but I do believe that the HPA set up keeps the pressure in the mag constant. So it is still the gun and mag which regulates how much CO2 is actually used.

Regulated co2 is fine, especially for sniper rifles.

But I would imagine that Nitrogen or compressed air would be better for fully auto rifles. Is that correct?

Yes, but only slightly, the co2 is regulated down far enough that the spikes are pretty well smoothed out, and if you wrap the tank in tubing it helps with the cooldown

Actually dry nitrogen is WAY better than Co2. No mositure, no freezing, no vairance due to weather conditions. Thats what I run in the strafer and it is a night and day difference from Co2, you wouldnt even think it was the same gun (and yes the pressure was the same from Co2 to dry nitrogen. 130 psi)

The Strafer is a little extreme and much more than any of us are going to be getting into. Cool Have you ever tested the difference in a regular gun.

I dont believe you can run hpa in gbbr where the gas in the mag, just co2,duster,and gg. In the older gas guns like escorts that have external air you can though.

I don't understand what the difference would be between that and running a Tanaka off an hpa rig which is done all over the place.

No real difference, it is only a hassle to change mags.

Most of my knowledge of using gas to power guns comes from paintball, and my paintball knowledge is extensive so bare with me while I endeavour to apply said knowledge to Airsoft. Nitrogen or HPA are going to be inherently less fickle than CO2 because neither are in liquid form and they are much less succeptible to external temperature, moisture, and a host of other environmental factors. Now, it seems to ms that it should not be overly difficult to modify a magazine to run off of HPA rather than gg, propane etc. I have cnc'd my own paintball gun, and created most of the intervals for it so modifying an existing mag shouldn't prove much trouble, right? How much would have to be changed? If anything. Forgive me, as I said earlier, I do not have nearly as much experience with gbbs as I do with aegs or paintball guns. (I am a certified smart parts and dye technician)

Thats more or less what I had figured. It seems straightforward enough. Now I just have to get my hands on Josh's (admin) m4 mag and I'll be set lol

Its the same principles though, so what if its the strafer, it still runs on gas and from CO2 to Dry Nitrogen he noticed a great difference so would every other gas gun.

Because if we are not shooting 90 rps then we wouldn't have as much of a problem with our guns freezing (or exploding)

It will freeze on Co2. why even use Co2 it not even worth discussing, Dry nitrogen is cheaper anyways. I would bet Spectre's paintball guns were regulated, I dont think any paintball gun could handle 1600 psi....

Gas guns still use, uh GAS, and yes they do have a freezing problem, I have owned many gas guns and all have suffered from freeze up, but if i was running dry nitrogen back then it wouldn't of happened

I thought about the problem of regulating air into the gun, however, I do not have any tanks that have an input pressure of 1600psi so that estimation is overestimated significantly.
The tank I would use is a low pressure tank that is pre-regulated to 350psi input pressure. However, I belies this is still to high for a normal Airsoft gas gun, so I came up with an idea to fix that problem. I have a number of old autococker LPRs lying around that are easily small enough to fit inside an M4 gas magazine. Seeing as the setup I would be creating would not need the gas resevoir in the magazine, I could simply place that regulator inside the empty space that is there. I could then run some high pressure hoses from the input to the regulator to the magazine valve and the problem of too high an input pressure is solved. I now have the ability to change the input pressure at my leisure from 0 psi up to 350psi. The problem of shootdown would also be solved by the HPA rig.

Before you say this is stupid and overly complicated, this is the kind of thing I love to do and it would be perfectly worth it to me. I don't mind putting in the work and effort.

Why not just put the regulator by the tank?
