I personally haven't had good luck with AGM, but keep in mind that my "bad luck" was with a GBBR, and a GBBR is not going to be reliable anyway. All I can say for sure was that the QC on some of the non-gbb parts (hopup, stock, dusty cover) just wasn't there. AGM bodies are nice though. I'd personally try to find a used TM/G&G or go with a combat machine. A lot of people seem to have good luck with clones.
Another route might be a Gen 2 SRC. The gearboxes aren't anything special, but when compared to an AGM/JG/Echo 1, they're pretty nice, and the price is pretty close to them as well.
