Waterproof is gunna cost you a pretty penny. If you want good running boots, I'd suggest Converse. They'll fall apart with heavy use, but you won't put them through that much playing airsoft. I've had mine for a while, and have them held together with glue on the soles now, love them so much i cant bring myself to let them die.

Re: what are some good boots??
Belleville makes awesome waterproof boots. Crazy Twitch owns a pair and I have seen him stand in a creek with them. Just remember, waterproof works both ways (unless they came up with some seriously new technology).
I just got some Belleville Tactical Research Kiowa boots and wore the today. Really comfy and they are just like a hightop running shoe, but not waterproof.

Thread made just in time.
I'm going up to Forest Park Army Navy to get some tan boots and khakis.
PMC look maybe.
Maybe they'll have Kiowas.

Those are gunna be pretty stiff, the rubber is thick on the soles. . Wearing boots in takes a long time, the good thing about the Converse ones are they are so loose the wear in period is very short.

Re: what are some good boots??
i have two pair: regular combat boots, and swat boots
the combat boots are all leather, water proof, and comfy if you change the insoles out, downside is they squeak when you walk, and they are a little on the heavy side
swat boots- leather and nylon, super light, good tread, not water proof, but they breathe (keeping your feet dry is a good thing)
air soft is about speed so go with a light pair of boots

Re: what are some good boots??
i had a setXUnJustEntropyX wrote:Are bates boots any good?
pretty much the worst boots i have ever had
i traded them for a set of barbed wire underware and iodine pants
and i am very happy with the deal i got
i have heard from mo,john and ben that the true specs from forestpark army/navy
are very good(and about $40 side zip model)but they don't have my size
i got a pair of the s.w.a.t. brand and have been very happy with them($80)
i am not crazy about water proof boots.
thay make your feet sweat
so you get hot wet feet almost all the time
unless you are in water the you get cooler sweaty feet

Re: what are some good boots??
Bates I heard are a hit and miss for some people. Harris and Andy loves them, I also tried a pair on and I can already tell that they're nice boots.
Bellevilles are pretty much what everyone I know would agree on. Lord Tyrant loves his pair, Twitch and Reed love their Kiowas, and even a few guys in the Army love them. The only thing though, they're up there with the expensive pairs like Converse, Wellco, Oakley, etc.

Re: what are some good boots??
as has been pointed out...there is no one stop solution..heavy, durable and waterproof...that also usually don't allow your feet to breath...or light weight, comfort and ease of use....
i've heard a ton of good stuff about the converse boots..just about everyone that has them, swears by them....
personally, i've played in alot of boots..though mostly older models..Altama's,Concorans,French double buckles, work boots from target and wal mart, cheap jungles.though i will say that you shouldn't EVER get the knock off jungle boots..worst POS's i've ever killed my feet with...
though i know they don't fit with your style, the ones i use now are probably the best boots i've owned, not just for AS but for everyday wear as well....Paladium Baggys...
yeah i know..they don't look that sturdy but they are the single best fitting and feeling boots i've ever owned...plus they are correct for our group's load out...when wet they drain out quickly and dry just as fast, they are supportive with out being heavy..(i'm already enough weight on my feet..lol)..and they have handled every type of terrain i've encountered in airsoft...best $70 i've ever spent...

Re: what are some good boots??
Merrels or Belleville. My whole team runs Kiowas and loves them but I still wear my Merrel Moabs at longer games just because they're so comfortable. The Kiowas aren't waterproof but they dry fast and are still comfortable to wear while wet. At Georgetown I find myself knee deep in water a lot of the time and in about 5 minutes I forget my feet are wet. The Merrels are pretty much the same but are much more comfortable. I wouldn't reccomend waterproof though. As stated before it gets hot and any water above the top of your boots will still get your feet wet. The waterproofing will also hold water and sweat in.

Re: what are some good boots??
As with just about anything else. The quality of your boots refelcts the price. Please dont go and pay 40 dollars for a pair of boots and then be angry when they kill your feet and fall apart on you.
I am a big fan of Bellville Boots. They are extremeley comfortable, durable, and lightweight. The Kiowa boots are by far the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. I jump with Bellvilles and havent rolled or broken my ankle yet (Knock on wood) I also Like Merrel Boots, and I have heard good things about the Oakley SI boots, although I have never tried a pair.
Some brands to stay away from: Condor (OE TECH), Altama, Converse (If you plan on having them for heavy use), Rocky Mountain.
The cheapest pair of boots I have ever paid for and found comfortable and durable was 60 for an awesome pair of boots from Ranger Joes. Cant believe they are still with me 2 years later.

Re: what are some good boots??
you can never go wrong with bates, ive got a pair of bates dress shoes for ROTC and ive never been happier, but make sure you stay away from rothco, i needed a quick pair of boots because my unit was going to parris island for a week, i found on another website where it said for the exact same boots "PLEASE NOTE: These boots are not meant for military use & cannot withstand severe use; for appearance more than use." and they FELL APART that weekXUnJustEntropyX wrote:Are bates boots any good?

Re: what are some good boots??
yeah...just about anything by rothco is the suxors...especially footwear...i almost got a set of the bellview jump boots but got a set concorans off evilbay for pretty cheap instead....
if you get those aggressor, maybe you ought to review them...palladium's site loves publishing reviews from owners....
i like the bottom ones..they almost/kinda look like the second type of US jungle boots...
called "okinawa boots" ,used by the first US advisors into vietnam.....
