First I would get a guarder sp110, that is if you want your gun under 400 fps. With a good airseal, that spring should get you 390-400 fps. Most of the range comes from the hopup system. I would start with a good bucking, like systema, prometheus, or even a madbull blue. You will want a nice nub too, like scs or an echo1 h-nub. Additionally shaving off the mound in the bucking will help with backspin consistency, which directly equates to accuracy. You should only do this if you plan on getting one of the nubs I listed. You will also want to shim the hop-up arm, there is a guide to that somewhere. Now its time to get a good airseal. Crappy airseals are why people only get 360 fps on an m120. You need to make sure there is a good seal on the piston head (stretch the o-ring), cylinder head (silicone sealant to the cylinder), youll want an air seal nozzle, and a good seal with the bucking to barrel (dental floss mod). Lastly be sure to polish, polish, polish. Polish your barrel for greater bore consistency, and 6.03-6.08 barrels are best. DO NOT get a 6.01 if you want good range. Make sure you match your barrel to cylinder. If it is me, I would buy a prometheus 455mm tightbore, and a full cylinder.

These mods will give you a great improvement on range and accuracy.

Also you may want to look into the newfangled g-hop, which supposedly gives tremendous range.

    mad bull blue bucking
    alum cyl head
    alum piston head
    matrix piston
    reeds mosfet
    g&g femme fatal
    m140 spring
    550mm barrel
    all from airdog
    my daughter's gun
    semi only
    486 fps
    range out the butt
    i just don't see 390 to 400 fps on a m110

    cheap way out for starters
m 130 from airdog and see what you get

this from a guy with loooong range guns
that are used at every game i play

the first will cost but you get what you pay for
the second is a cheap upgrade, but if you can't do the install yourself
call rhino and let him know what you want-give him your budget-and start from there
if money is a little tight start outside the gear box
    hopup bucking
    barrel
then save up and get all the gear box parts
    and install all at once
an m130 will put you at the 420to 440 range
on the edge of a dmr/sniper

Sp110 is more like a m120. Guarders are pretty hot, and then combine them with good airseal.

    yep
if its a under rated spring
    i can see it

a m130 in a stock gun is a cheap start
and most internals will hold up ok

I agree, but you have a perfect air-seal like dboys do,(I dont know how the heck but its good for a clone company), You could easily go above 420, into the 440-450 range. My m16 has a m130 and decent airseal and its shooting 440.

heavier bb's requires higher fps. you get better consistency with heavier bb's. using .20g on 500 fps will be unstable. heavier bb's also require more backspin. unfortunately, higher fps will cause more air leakage.

on m4 gearboxes, you risk cracking the gearbox. i prefer to use rubber washer glued to the cylinder head and avoid aluminum piston/cylinder heads. this both corrects AOE and absorbs the piston impact to lessen the stress on the gearbox. using a round metal file and cutting arcs on the gearbox window edges will remove microcracks that formed during manufacturing. if not removed, these cracks will expand on high fps builds and lead to major cracking.

higher fps will also cause your barrel to vibrate violently. this will cause inconsistency. there are mods to stabilize the inner barrel.

you will need to upgrade your nozzle to an o-ring type. possibly shave the front tappet plate to allow the nozzle to seat deeper into the bucking for better airseal. i prefer ryan's recommendation using madbull blue. you may need to wrap dental floss or use gasket sealant for better air seal. i use teflon tape on cylinder head and bucking. also use it on the inner barrel.

i use WE .40g, it's just as consistent and cheaper than madbull .40g (530fps). use overhop to go beyond 230 feet. my scope is sighted at 200 feet. it helps to have a laser rangefinder.

without changing your barrel length, guarder sp150 should get you around 500 fps. you will need a motor to pull that spring. airdog has matrix magnums in stock. also, you will need reed's mosfet so you can run 7.4v LiPo to feed that motor. with proper shimming, your gears should be able to handle it. do not use full auto with high fps builds. you can mod your selector plate to permanently disable full auto (i've done this to my son's JG DMR).

i like to glue my bushings/bearings to the gearbox. if you upgrade your barrel to a tightbore, that will also increase your fps.

another option is to use torque gears. it helps reduce stress on the piston and motor, but, it slows down your trigger response. i'm using 32:1 helical on my Tavor. it allows me to use a polycarbon piston to reduce stress on my gearbox. on your 500 fps builds, i recommend an SHS 14 teeth rack piston. it's light and strong (also low priced).

DMR builds are a lot easier than high ROF builds, but, i recommend having a secondary with at least 20 rps.

I strongly disagree with this. And in regards to the op's question, If your staying under 400-420ish, I like G&G .25's-.28's. If your going for a bit more like 480-550+, goldenball .4's are excellent.
