Ops Core FAST Carbon Fiber Helmet

Well I finally broke down and bought one yesterday after looking at them for 5 months. Its gonna take months for my bank account to recover.....Months I say.

On the flip side. Once I get some Liberator II's I will be looking srsly Legit. I do like the helmet so far, very lightweight but its very well put together. The inner helmet band is really nice and comfortable. Im not so sure about the pads yet, I kinda like it without the pads but maybe after some use the pads will soften up (The pads have a Styrofoam like base against the helmet, with a gel pad against you head). Needless to say Im anxious to get some field time with it. I must say i do like the chinstrap a lot! Very low profile and very comfortable. Also a lot easier to adjust then our standard helmet chinstrap, and unlike our MICH's the adjustments dont fall apart either.

Probably because I shop at the same store where 7th SF, Delta, and CAG all shop at haha. The Helmet still isnt finished. Still need a Princeton Tac light for it and and IR strobe.

Yes I know it does. Unfortunately Comtacs are around 800 bucks...sooo I gotta hold off on those for awhile.

Yes, It is a Garmin Foretrex 301. GREAT Piece of kit. Especially for my airborne ops. Lets me know my position asap and points me in the right direction to the assembly area. I wont go into all of the details of it, you can read more here: http://www.rei.com/product/790319/garmin-foretrex-301-gps

Settle with replicas for now. I use mine at the range, and it works fine.

Of course its not issued. If its effective, then the army isnt going to issue it to you.

And Im done buying replica gear, so Im not going to get replica comtacs. Ill just wait until I can afford an actual set of comtacs.

I think MARSOC just ordered a bunch of those... maybe it was all of SOCOM? Idk.

SOCOM just put in a 5 million dollar contract to outfit all of its units with FAST helmets. Norway is equipping their entire army with the helmets as well.

These things are about to be as valuable as gold. They were already backordered 6-8 weeks, and then those two contracts were put in for even more. So they were hard enough to get before, and now they are going to be REALLY REALLY hard to get.

That settles it then, I will get one!

Do you know if MARSOC ordered tan or MARPAT?

I got the Carbon Fiber one, because it is a lot more solid than the Base jump one, and it can take a VAS shroud rather than an integrated one.

I am 90 percent sure MARSOC ordered Marpat helmets. You can see the helmet is MARPAT, but I dont know if he is MARSOC. Im going to assume he is cus he has a non issued MC plate carrier and look at the patches.

Awesome, thanks. I'm probably just going to go with the Base Jump model. Definitely getting goggle straps and the Contour mount though.

Got a Princeton Tec MPLS and a S&S VLite. Next on the list is an IR Strobe.

How do you like the VLite? I read about SF guys using them on the back of their helmets to show which way they're facing. I would think that they would be using the IR version but is that something you think the normal version could do or would it be too bright? The helmet looks great!

Yes, this is going to be part of my venom kit. No, I havent been able to find many pictures of MARSOC with them, there are lots of pictures of Army special forces with them however, just not many marine pictures.

And I Like the V lite. It also comes with a strobing feature, so its pretty nice. Its only 40 bucks and is completely flexible. They have Red, Blue, Green, and IR. All of that aside, I think it gives off the right amount of light in that its not overpowering but its not hard to see either.

At the same time its not going to be seen from miles away like the more powerful IR strobes.
