MOS and duty station?? And have fun with "raking in the dough"
Taking the ASVABs in February, then going to the recruiter. I can't do jack till I'm 17. After training I go back to school to finish my Senior year, but I have to report to the local recruiter twice a month. I'm going to try to go Infantry, Calvary or Armor in the Army, but I don't go to AIT till after I get out of highschool.

Never heard of them doing it that way... Normally you take ASVAB, then you fill up more paperwork to prepare for MEPS then you go to MEPS, then if you're still in high school they won't ship you til you graduate because you need to be 18 and you need either that diploma or a GED (I even heard that they're going to ditch the GED and MUST be a high school graduate). Try to get Cavalry Scout (19D) if you want to be really Hooah and try your best to go Airborne with it. I know Twitch will kill me for saying that.
Anyway back on topic, I'm tempted to buy the Ops-core base jump helmet to when I start doing skydiving. You can use those helmets for any sport as well.

That's why I have to talk to the recruiter more. It's called delayed entry; or it was until they renamed it the future soldier program. I'm confused as well and have a few questions. I turn seventeen on the 1st of February and the ASVABs are on the 19th so I'll head down and ask a few questions before then. My parents give consent and are going to sign my papers. I'm also going to get letters of recommendation from my SAI and AI in JROTC. It's nice because I'll get my first paycheck after BCT and then get to go back home and I'll get paid when I help the recruiter but I still won't have any major expenses. Actually, I took the "What jobs you match your interests?" quiz and Calvary Scout was my best match. Hears the list it created, the ones I like are in red:
- Cavalry Scout (19D)
- Indirect Fire Infantryman (11C)
- Infantryman (11B)
- M1 Armor Crewman (19K)
- AVENGER Crewmember (14S)
- Cannon Crewmember (13B)
- Bridge Crewmember (21C)
- Special Forces Communications Sergeant (18E)
- Special Forces Engineer Sergeant (18C)
- Special Forces Medical Sergeant (18D)
- Special Forces Weapons Sergeant (18B)
- Psychological Operations Specialist (37F)
- Multiple Launch Rocket System Repairer (94P)
- Field Artillery Meteorological Crewmember (13W)
- Field Artillery Surveyor (13S)
- Fire Support Specialist (13F)
- Field Artillery Automated Tactical Data System Spec (13D)
- Field Artillery Firefinder RADAR Operator (13R)
- Multiple Launch Rocket System Operational Fire Dir (13P)
Those Airborne wings sure would be nice...
I will get back on topic as well... I like these helmets. A lot. But now that they're available & cheap-ish, everyone wants one, and is planning on getting one sometime. Their desirability is only boosted by their appearance in movies and video games. They'll be so friggin common, which to me, makes them boring. If I ever get to a modern loadout, I most likely will avoid getting a FAST helmet.

Well, it all depends on my ASVAB score.

I cannot and will not try to understand why so many people think this way.

Right?
Only the cool kids will have real ones. And the super duper cool kids will have ballistics.

But, airsoft, particularly the "tactical" community, is about one-upping everyone else. I don't mean this in a bad or offensive way, but most "good" loadouts seem to be: "I have the most new tactical gear on my rig and more (popular upgrade company, ex: Magpul) parts on my M4", and everyone replies "uber-pro, I wish I had that ( new piece of gear) ". Some company makes a replica and everyone who wanted one, gets one. To me, most players seem tend to just conform to whatever is popular. You could go with the flow, get the newest trend in tactical gear, either real or replica, and you would be absolutely fine. These players One-Up by amount.
But, you could be a non-conformist. You could find a piece of gear that no-one else is wearing, whether it be historical, foreign or homemade/ modified. These loadouts tend to be more unique, in a sea of modern Multicam and ACU loadouts, but can sacrifice practicality for uniqueness. These loadouts can also become more expensive, ordering gear from Europe and Asia isn't cheap, and 60 year old equipment becomes more rare each year. Players who decide to walk this path One-Up by uniqueness, but it's a gamble. Some players may love the unique loadout, some may hate it, some may not care, which makes some players feel uncomfortable. "Why do a loadout not everyone will like?"
I like to One-Up by uniqueness. Sure, the FAST helmet is unique now but in a year, everyone who wanted one will have one and only experienced players who have handled the $600-$1000 Ops-Core helmet will be able to distinguish it from the $75 Chinese clone by just looking at them from 20 feet away. I'd rather spend a decent amount of money on some obscure piece of kit that no company will ever copy (Vietnam Loadout) to ensure that my loadout will be rather unique wherever my travels may take me.
But whatever makes you happy. We all seem to forget that we really don't need gear. We just need out guns, a few high-cap magazines, goggles/glasses, bb's, and pants with large pockets. The kit is just for looks.

I know, but you don't need to look the part. That's just for fun. Gear isn't necessary to shoot at each-other.

^ Truth
Airsoft is very different across the US. Up here in the north, its VERY MILSIM oriented, where as from my experience, airsoft in GA tends to be more paintball run and gun. Not saying any one style is better, but the point of MILSIM is looking the part, IE events such as Irene or Pine Plains.
This is typical MI loadouts, and thats real AOR1, not MARPAT. Plate carrier alone is a couple grand.

Hippie are you doing national guard, stay far away from that. They promised me a solid gold toilet and a whole bunch of other stuff, luckily i had a brother who was just getting back from BCT to finish his senior year of highschool, he got none of the bonuses he was promised, and his mos was changed by them at the last minuit. Not to mention the day after graduation he went to iraq to dig holes. they will mess you up hippy. Do the right thing and join the Marines. I leave for basic june 6th and im not looking back, plus if you compare army recruiting to the marines......... Marines +1. the Marines recruiting process was so much better than the armys, its alot more thourough and proffesional than the army. We should talk, hope to see you at O.P SOCO

Nope. Going straight-up Army after highschool. I learned, after talking to the recruiters, that the delayed entry program is for Reserves only. I said "Screw that! I want active duty." I can sign up in April and go to MEPS early, so I get my job of choice. Then I go to the recruiters every month to kinda learn some basic stuff befor heading off to BTC. It's called the "Future Soldiers Program."
