Echo 1 and JG.

Forgive me for this noobish question, but I usually ony deal with Maruis and dont know a lot about the other airsoft companies.

Anyway, I thought I read somewhere that JG and Echo 1 were pretty much the same company. Is this true? and if not, would Echo 1 stocks, mags, and handguards fit on a JG rifle.

While I am at it, anyone know where I can get a decently priced Echo 1 or JG M4A1 or M773? (NO RIS)

But E1 is baisically a rebrander. Most E1's are rebranded JG's that are reshimmed/ have metal bushings if the JG comes with nylon ones. The Armalites are JG rebrands, so perts compatability is 100%. However, parts compataibilty is usually 100% across the spectrum, especially when you're talking externals.

I've heard that they come from the same manufacturer, but im not sure if this is true.

Well here is the deal. I didnt realize echo 1 carried a line of multicam externals (stocks, mags, handguards). So I was just going to buy a decent, CHEAP M4 to kinda use as a project gun. Once i get the rifle I will get all of the parts in.

The internals are better, and the externals are still mostly plastic, but everything that's plastic is made of nylon fiber instead of ABS.

Externals dont matter to much since I'm going to replace the stock, handguard, and pistol grip with the Echo 1 multicam versions.

I read that this version has a plastic hop up though. Would that be a problem?

And I'm assuming the battery goes in the handguard like most other M4's?

you can buy a metal hopup

Echo 1 uses 2 piece hop-ups, like TM. I suggest that you replace it with a different one, since 1 piece hop-ups get a better seal.

If it has a retractable stock (unless it has RIS) it will go in the foregrip, if it is a full stock or shorty stock, then it will go in the stock or a PEQ.

my ICS cost 300$ and it had a plastic hop-up. i think thats pretty standard but you can do an easy upgrade to a metal one, as long as its not ICS. they use their own special hop-ups
