More Craigslist Scamming FUN!!! Empty More Craigslist Scamming FUN!!!

    Post  XXX 24.06.09 14:28

I just received this message from someone over Craigslist.

Main Goal:See how long I can waste his time for.
    Secondary Goal:Really piss him off

    First message from him!

    Thanks for your response......Am okay with the price of the item and i will like to make an outright purchase of this particular item immediately because i am in needed of it and i want to get it as soon as possible, I anticipate that a Money Order or certified check will be sent to you via Express mail UPS or FedEx as the mode of payment, concerning the pickup, i will be responsible for that, where the movers will come for the pick up at your location upon your confirmation of receiving the payment and i want you to remove this item from the ad now. So i will send the payment which will include the pick up charges,in which you will make payable to the movers via Money Gram/Western Union immediately after you have receive the payment and you will be compensated with $30 extra for your running around to the money gram/Western union outlet to avoid the delay. And I would really love to com e for the viewing but due to my work frame that might not be possible... .....and I will like you to provide the following payment information as soon as possible;
    full name ...........................................
    full home address (physical
    City................................................
    state................................................
    zip>code..............................................
tel#..................................................As soon as this is provided i will let you know when payment is mailed out and i will update you on when you will receive the payment and give you instructions on what to do....Thanks and i hope we handle in good faith.

    First Reply Back:

I will go ahead and give you the information but I have some questions. Dont I need your address that way the movers know where they are going?

    Here it is:
    Full Name: Shane Barnard
    Home Address: 203 Washington St.
    City: Atlanta
    Zipcode: 30341
Telephone: I am about to get a new phone so I am not 100% sure yet, I will update you tomorrow when I get it.

What county do you live in maybe we could just arrange some sort of drop off, I have my own u-haul and could easily deliver it to your place for a small fee.

I hope this all works out I have wanted to sell this furniture for a long time.

I also think if you sent me a money order it would work out much better my local gas station now offers Money Orders.

I am kind of new to this so bare with me!

    Thanks so much!

Received Second Message from the Scammer!

Thanks for the reply...Yes the check will be send out to your address soonest and the tracking number will be send to you immediately the check was send.....I also want to let you know that the rest funds on the check will be sent to the MOVERS via Western Union and MoneyGram inorder for them to come over and pick up the item at your place..So is there a western union location in your area there?. Kindly removed the add from the site as sold. Thanks Hope to read back from you soonest..

Sent Second Message back to the Scammer:
    Dear Robert,

I need some sort of verification that you are not just one of those new scamming bots out there. I have recently started asking some other people to do this to make sure that they are 100% interested in the deal. Sir, I know this sounds silly but this is the only way to know if you are real or not please send me a picture of a fish on top of your head. As soon as this is sent I will most definitely move on with the final details.

I am so sorry sir please bare with me like I have said I am very new to this but I have heard this strategy works wonders against spam/scam bots.

If you are real I hope that I am not disrespecting you by making you put a fish on your head!

I promise once you send this I will let the movers come get it.

    sincerely,

    Shane Barnard

I will edit this continuously, updating the conversation! NOTE I AM SELLING FURNITURE...haha, I also gave him the address of the state capitol...we shall see how this turns out!

Okay, so can someone explain how this scam actually works? Like how does it actually work out for the scammer? And is this just a bot, or do people just roam around on craigslist?

Try to get his address/home phone number. If you can do that, and verify it's a scam, there is much fun to be had.

Its not a bot, I guess they try and get your Credit Card, I have not figured that one out yet!
