Re: is the agm m4 any good
The AEG one is pretty good. If you're talking about the AGM GBB M4, don't get it unless you're willing to spend $800 in upgrades. Trust me. But I would personally get a G&G Plastica instead of an AGM.

AGM has run of the mill clone internals, Nothing special. Don't expect miracles out of it.

Re: is the agm m4 any good
The G&G Combat Machine M4 would be your best choice for the price range of under $200. Great internals, great accuracy, light weight, durable and non expensive. It does not shoot 400 fps out of the box but this gun will save you some serious $$$ without having to rebuild the intire gun to get good range and durability. For the money and relibility, go with the Combat Machine M4 by G&G, here's the link:
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_107&products_id=4587
or you have an option for blowback, little more and a little less reliable since it has more moving parts but its a great one for the money without spending $400+ on a blowback
link for blowback:
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_107&products_id=4726
Edit: This probably has to be moved to the ''Guns'' section instead of wtb. Wtb is wanting to buy somthing, this thread seems to be a discussion.

Re: is the agm m4 any good
I have a g&g m4 combat machine. And all i can say is, it's a wonderful gun. Fps is low, but you can always throw a m110 or a m120 in. I run a 7.4 in mine. But i heard some people use a 11.1 stock, and it last for a while. But i wouldn't recommend that. Get a g&g combat machine for 140 bucks, then spend another 20 on a spring. Just drop by Airdog Airsoft and they will take care of you.

Re: is the agm m4 any good
I have the AGM 614. It is very solid and has zero wobble. The lower and upper receivers fit together very tightly. Of course it isn't made of the same quality of metals like the high end guns, but you know that going in. The gearbox is about what you would expect. It has 6mm metal bushings and all the other things you get with a clone GB. It works great with a 9.6 or 7.4 lipo. It shoots 420 plus out of the box and about 12 or 13 rps with a 9.6. The motor is actually pretty nice. The inner barrel is a 430 mm 6.08 and is serviceable. Better if polished. My least favorite part is the two piece hopup, but after changing the hopup bucking, it shot very well. I bought it from Airsoft Megastore, and got it for about 160 with free shipping. One thing of note is that I got the full stock, and it began to crack on the top seam, but a little plastic epoxy and it is solid. For the money, I am very pleased. It leaves me with the funds to, over time, upgrade it as I want.

Re: is the agm m4 any good
If your budget is $170, the G&G Plasitca (http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_237&products_id=3517) is going to be a better option. Basically, G&G first came out with the Plkastica/Sprotline models to break into the "budget" market. The Plastica/Sportline models are essentially G&G high-end internals in a nylon fiber body. After G&G realized that they needed to have a model under $150 to truly compete (on purely a price standpoint) with the clones, they reworked the gun with slightly lower-quality gearbox parts, motor, etc. So in a nutshell, you could get a Combat Machine, or you could spend the extra $30 for G&G high-end internalsm4airsoftking wrote:ok thankyou i think i will get the combat machine m16

Re: is the agm m4 any good
I 100% recomend the Plastica or the Combat machine. The two differences I know is the plastica has a better motor and a tbb while the cm doesnt(correct me if im wrong)
But what are you looking in a gun?
Do you wanna keep it stock?

Re: is the agm m4 any good
The budget G&G choices are truly great!
As to your original question:
Yes, the AGM is a great gun if you want something that will shoot 420fps out of the box and run exceptionally well.
I have bought four variations of AGM m4s and had great success with ALL of them.
Pros:
Comes with battery though not a great one
Good all metal body
High FPS and good rate of fire
Cons:
Two piece hop-up design
I would not put the AGM up against a full-blown G&G. For mixed play with someone who does not mind 350fps and knows they do not come with a battery then they are a steal. The average starter is gonna spend $170 on the gun, $20 on a battery, $15 on a spring, $40 getting that spring installed. So realistically $245 or so to get it up to what most of us expect in terms of FPS.
For a ready to play solution where 400fps+ and pretty darn good durability/quality is desired then the AGM is a good choice that will do all of that for under $160 to your door. (Discounts codes are available)

I am not 100 percent sure on the combat machine, but if you change the spring, you may also need to change to a full metal tooth piston.

This is hands down the best deal for your money.
G&G Plastica (So high grade G&G internals), 3000 G&G bb's, 9.6v 1600 mah tenergy battery, Charger, tactical rail, and a pair of eypro.
All for 170.
Oh, and if you order from evike you can get the holy cow, On cent special and get Two M4 magazines for 1 cent. I got two highcaps for one cent!!
This is better than the Comabt machine or the AGM rifle.

Just because the AGM has 420 fps doesn't mean anything. It is mainly a marketing ploy to get new guys to think "OMG! 420 fps is way better that 340 fps!!!". FPS really doesn't do the gun any good unless you harness it with a good hop-up, something at which ACM companies fail to do.

Re: is the agm m4 any good
Twitch is likely right on the evike deal . . . I had seen that but not noticed that it was the plastica and not the combat machine like I had looked at at airsoft atlanta which has the same accessories for $10 less . . . since this is the mid-line with those items AND the two free mags it is indeed a great deal if you are ok with the lower fps and shorter inner barrel than a full-size carbine.

Re: is the agm m4 any good
With the AGM, you do need to replace the bucking out of the box. The stock bucking is unusable. But when I put a new bucking in mine, it made all the difference.
