Mantis Airsoft presents:
Prelude to War
Part one in the Bosnia campaign
Sponsored by:
PSA
Storyline:
Shortly following the break up of former Yugoslavia, armed conflicts broke out across the region. The ethnic groups involved laid claims to land and establish unstable borders while the government body worked toward a multi-ethnic Bosnia. A long and heated struggle for independence ensued with the Serb population standing in defiant protest. On April 6th 1992 the UN recognized Bosnia’s independence and the US followed suit the next day. This pushed an already unstable situation over the edge and war broke out as Bosnian Serbs retaliated. Bosnian Serb regions seceded from the newly recognized Bosnia and set out to take over the new republic. With the highest percentage of population, they advanced on non Serb areas in an effort to take them over and solidify their hold on Bosnia -eliminating all other opposing factions. Backed by Serbia and holding the population majority, the Bosnian government could do very little on its own. With support from Croatia they formed the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and held off the Serb attacks as best they could. These events eventually lead to a siege on Sarajevo and a 4 year civil war.
Prelude to War takes place just after April 6th, 1992 and is the starting point of the War in Bosnia. The idea behind this event is to recreate the Bosnian Serb push to control the region. Bosnian Serbs are pushing into a Bosnian Croat area on their way to Sarajevo. There is a strong Bosnian army presence here in an effort to halt the Serbs. If the Bosnian army fails to stop the Serbs here, Sarajevo will come under siege which will weaken the Bosnian army’s tentative position in the country.
The event will consist of two 4 hour battles between the Bosnian Serbs and the Bosnian Army. Each faction has one primary goal which is to advance across the field and establish control in the area or to hold off the advance and maintain control. There will be special missions that come up during the day that can shift the advantage to one side or the other.
