Re: New Indoor CQB Field
Okay, I made it out to the new CQB field in Sugar Hill, SSairsoft today.
Here are my thoughts.
It's about 40 minutes from Athens so the drive time for me is about the same as going to other indoor fields in the area.
SSairsoft was very easy to find and only about 4 miles from the Mall of Georgia.
I ran into several friends as I arrived so I didn't talk too much with the owners at first, however the reception staff were friendly enough. The store front looked nice, but as they haven't officially opened yet they are pretty light on merchandise. I looked around and noticed that the AEGs and pistols they had were very decent and priced VERY well. They also sell BBs at a price that is comparable to on-line stores. Other indoor fields in the area sell their BBs for around $30. Personally I'd prefer to buy my BBs on-site so this was good news for me and a good business decision. I asked one of the owners about a new holster I was planning on buying and he told me to write it down and he'd have it there for me the next time I play.
I assume they will increase their stock once they open fully.
Going through to the field there is a relatively small prep area. The prep area and rental desk look very cool and are comfortable for around 20 ppl, but it might become a problem when more ppl arrive.
They chrono'd my AUG upon arrival and as I didn't have any 0.2s they gave me a handful for my mag.
The staging area is a large, cool-looking tarp tent where briefings are held and where everyone gathers before entering the field proper. Inside the tent are benches and power outlets for customers to use. Great if you wanna put a batt on to charge. They can also do it for you at the rental desk if you don't have your charger.
The field itself is freaking awesome. High ceilings and full of EPIC buildings, other structures and even a tower. Eric designed and fabricated the buildings, which are all movie set quality. You might have seen his handy work on a piece in the window of GE. They are also secured to the floor so they won't move around if you run into them. I will try to post some pics later. My only complaint is that the field isn't huge. Its a pretty good size for CQB, but would really benefit from being larger. I heard a whisper that they might be doing something about this.
That said, they have done the best they could with the space and I really can't imagine how it would be any better.
During game play the refs were all very professional and friendly. They also ran a great selection of games and the whole time I was there I don't think we played the same game more than twice. A really good selection and very well executed.
Towards the end of the day the owner ran a money-bag free-for-all game. The winner won a free shotgun. I came 2nd! They also ran a game where they gave away a bag of BBs. I believe this is to be a regular thing for a while.
All-in-all this place is fantastic. If they have it set up this well so early on then I predict we'll see great things from them. The field was player inspired and the owners have spent a lot of time and money giving the players what they asked for. If you like indoor CQB you will have a blast here. I just hope they either expand a little and/or drop the FPS limit to 350.
Pros:
Looks really AWESOME!
Friendly and professional staff
3 attentive refs on field during play
Responsive owners who are keen to provide players with what they want
Great prices on weaps, gear and BBs
Looks really AWESOME!
They run a great mix of games
No Mall walk-in noobs so a very honest group who were calling hits and checking tempers.
2 customer toilets
Water fountain and vending machine
Looks really AWESOME!
Cons:
relatively expensive field fees - $20
With a relatively small field and a 400 fps limit you'll REALLY feel the BBs!
Prep area/dead-zone may become crowded if too many players are present.
Reloading breaks between games were kind of long.
No lockers for valuables.
Currently limited merchandise.
Safety Requirements:
Barrel sock
Full face and eye pro
FPS <400
Its a work in progress, but talking with them it sounds like they are constantly making improvements and keen to respond to feedback. I was really impressed and will be heading over there on a regular basis splitting my time between here and outdoor fields.
Go check it out.

I can't seem to figure out how to post images here, but I've put some up on the PSA forum if anyone is interested.

This field is fantastic and the owner steve is great. They have great customer service and in my opinion are much better than gold eagle. It's in an office type building behind applebys.

Re: New Indoor CQB Field
this is SS airsoft before they messed up the field. when i went back during the beginning of this year, SS barricaded the field in half so that the only way to get to the other side is through the small suicide buildings. everyone was shooting from any hole they can find. i don't want to do video there anymore, considering how my mini eotech got shotup.

Re: New Indoor CQB Field
I actually like the new layout, it makes it harder for people to just sit in the back and hope to hit something. It brings the fight closer up. These videos are with the new layout. You will enjoy them a lot more if you turn the sound off, these were made when I wasn't editing our videos.
The cool part in this one starts at 1:43, the video before that is boring.
