Condor. Coz I can't afford Arcteryx.
Yeah, I will regret selling my gear but I won't be needing it for a while.

Re: Show your load-out
Ok, this is first set up of kit for Afghanistan. I dont like the IOTV but I cant do anything about it. So Far I like what I got except the MAP, it just sits so low...and I have it as high as it can go (Damn IOTVs and there stupid setup). Probably just going to use the issued camelbak or something, I dont know, I gotta look at some ideas. As usual, some pics are blurry because my camera cant autofocus for crap.

Re: Show your load-out
that looks pretty good to me. couldn't you just skip the first couple molle strips for the MAP and ziptie the loops to something up higher? like a shoulder strap or something?

If that's what you can wear in Afghanistan, that's not bad at all. I say ditch the MAP and try something else.

God speed man. Makes you think, when soldiers first showed up in some of those really secluded villages, did we look like spacemen to them?

Gangsta Twitch!
Twitch I share your hatred for IOTV's as well. They are way to constricting and overly bulky, don't even get me started on the nut sack flap.
Look into something like this for the hydro, I am switching to one once I get my LBT 6094.

Re: Show your load-out
Trying to remember how I did my H2O setup.....550 cord accross the back where those holes are. I was using an old (2004 purchase) blackhawk carrier. The 550 was run under the flap and the camelback hooked onto it. That way, it wouldn't slide to the bottom as I emptied it. This allowed the carrier to ride higher. Also...and this is important....it allowed me to take the bladder out and put it in my RAID. We spent most of our time in vehicles where leaning against the bladder for up to 12-16 hours sucked.
Your IOTV looks....updated? I notice a few small changes. Did you flip your side plates? Left to right? Yes, they will be "up-side-down", but, they will ride higher on your torso instead of lower on your hips. Higher is better. Check LF. There were some reviews and how-to's.
"real talk"...practice reloads with both hands (stron hand-off hand). practice clearing your weapon and getting it back into action. practice with your TQ. collect as many as you can and put them on all your gear. set them up "combat loaded".
5,000 repititions before anything becomes muscle memory. start now brother.
Man I wish I could go back.

Re: Show your load-out
Im probably going to end up running something similar to that Zander. Im not really a fan of those style of hydro carriers but they have never let me down.
I think the side plates were already flipped Sgt Andy, they said they made some changes on the plates of this one from our other issued IOTVs, I am not sure though because we havent gotten our AP side plates in yet, so i haven't really looked at the side plate pockets too much.

Re: Show your load-out
out of curiousity; When deployed, if you wanted, could you furnish yourself with some of these?
... or do you have to issued magazines? Seems like it would be awfully nice to have as many of these as you could fit into a bailout bag, since the opening of the bailout bag is usually the same time as the **** hits the fan.
The 60 round isn't nearly as rediculous in length as the 100.

Re: Show your load-out
Those were not out when I last went over. I purchased 10 PMAGs in Dark Earth. There was such a back-order when I bought them in April, that I didn't get them until I had been in country for over a month.....about 6-8 months later. No one said anything negative.
The Sure-fire mags above weigh about 2lbs loaded. Maybe a tad more. I buddy has some that his department purchased. He loves them. No issues yet.

Re: Show your load-out
I mean...in some units your probably could, but not here. Our CSM is pretty standard crazy. Keeps blabbering on about traditions and the standards and what not. Drives me absolutley crazy but there is nothing i can do abou it, so i doubt that those would fly. Plus, what kind of pouch do you put those things in?!!?

Re: Show your load-out
Either a shotgun scabbard or a highlander back mounted sword sheath I suppose, lol.
I was thinking, they would be nice when the SHTF, but reading Andy's post about muscle memory with may changes, you may be subconsciously changing the mag with 70 rounds left in it.

Re: Show your load-out
One issue I can see with the SF mags is going prone… not really an issue for police/dynamic entry teams as much but in combat I would imagine that when firing you'll be in the prone a good bit.
Worst case scenario, you swap out the followers on your issue magazines.
