Presented by ODA105, AirsoftJunkiez.com and Battlezone Paintball, I bring you Operation Downfall!
War has made, shaped and changed the history of the world. There have been empires, kings and dictators. There have been battles that, in a single day, changed the course of history. In 480 BCE, The Greeks stopped the Persian invasion, perserving all that is and became Greek culture. In 1781, George Washington won independance for the infant United States by defeaing the British and General Cornwallis at Yorktown. Despite these great triumphs and historic defeats, there have been battles that, while never fought, could have rivaled the greatest in history.
In 1945, World War II was quickly coming to an end. Germany surrended, and the Allies quickly turned their attention to Japan. With the atomic bomb still considered a last resort, the Allies turned to American General Douglas MacArthur to do the unthinkable: plan the invasion of Japan. The result, which came to be known as OPERATION DOWNFALL, was eventually scrapped after Japan surrended after the bombings of Hirosima and Nagasaki. What could have been? Would the Allies, the combined might of the U.S, Britian and the Soviet Union, be successful? Or, would the Japanese defensive plan, Operation KETSUGO, have the upper hand? Join us on March 2nd, and find out!
