So I'm looking at getting an MP5 and of course one of my first stops is Evike. Where I notice that JG has a "Version 2 (Metal Gear Box) / Newest Version JG MOD5 gearbox with fully customizable / upgradeable internal." So what is so different about it?

Even if they did, I'd cut it out. JG mosfets are hindrances more than they are helpful. Mark had a JG AUG RAS, and he took out the mosfet and gained RoF.

JG changed a lot as far as internals in the summer/fall of '08. So this is probably just the post-2008 version. But I doubt the claim about "fully customizable internals". I theory, yes, but the QC on clones is, I've found, pretty shoddy, and what should fit doesn't always fit. Heck, Rhino and I talked about this on Wednesday when I was down there. On some clones, something might fit great, but on another gun that is the exact same make/model, it might not fit.

Just curious, but does this particular mystery stem from poor quality control?

Yep. Clone companies usually put a decently solid product, but they sometimes do stuff that just doesn't make sense. I had to tighten practically every screw on a neighbor's JG G3 because they were loose right from the factory.
