Oh, thanks man. I'll do that instead. Incidentally, were you at the game because I was hoping to run into your team too.

I don't know how I managed to forget to post an AAR here and on TeamAirsoft... Blame it on the fact that I am still having a hard time keeping my eyes open. My body just can not do almost 48 hours awake with NO sleep anymore!

The game was a blast! I will tell you the truth, I was not sure at the beginning. Seemed like we were having a lot of problems with hit calling and MEDs. We also spent a lot of time with out thumbs up our butt trying to wait for orders from our Platoon leader and CO. *Ahem* But everyone had a blast! We took out their small tank once and the duce a few times just by shooting everyone in the back.

Then came the night... Our team of old guys took off for K-9. We took the hard route and went through the forest from Swamp. That is hard trecking in the dark of the night without NVG. We got within about 30 feet of the base when all hell broke loose! There was a bit of confusion when we thought they responded to calls stating that they were Georgia. Right or wrong, it left a sour taste in my mouth. I ALMOST packed it in for the game but I am glad that I didn't, because that was when the real fun began! We started holding bases because we realized that we were loosing points because no one was staying in the bases for time checks. So we hunkered down in Swamp and J. Davis for the next few time checks and ran missions in between time checks. I left my guys sleeping in the bases just to make sure we got the points for them, they were such troopers for a bunch of "Old Guys"! I had the GPS device so we attempted to find the flag. Although I was told later that someone gave us the wrong GPS coords so we were about 500 feet off of the flag! Then we sat around for about 45 minutes watching SC guys walk in circles looking for their objective. It was the funniest thing as they were totally blind and could not see the briefcase with a nice chem light on it. We were laughing so hard we knew they could hear us! Then we booked it over to J. Davis with Jester to make sure they could not complete their mission. It was a blast and nice to finally fight along side of Jester!

The morning came and it was game on. We went to J. Davis to hold that position because that is where they were to pick up their objective. That is when the fight broke out at. Luck for us, we had the SS crew and Poopdaddy there I believe to back us up. It was hard fighting but I made sure that they could not flank our sides and we held pretty strong. Oh and let me say I was on the hurting end of those M4s and it was not nice!!! After we got our suitcase back to our base, we knew they could not catch us so I wanted to give my old guys some time on the attacking end. So we took off for Lincoln looking for a fight. Andrew and Carl made it there and took out all the SC guys. We started just looking for logical places where the SC guys could be. I brought up the rear and one of the people running with us, I do not know his name, thought he saw something in the woods to the south of the tower. So I sent the main herd along to K-9 and him and I checked it out. We did not find anything in those woods but when we came out, I swear that I saw the SC CO taking a leak in the trees and then looking for something right near the tower. The young guy running with me was on his toes enough to capture him, because I had been told earlier that COs could not be captured any more and did not know that it had changed back! One shot to the back at about 40 feet and it was all over. Hurley and some guys joined up with us and escorted him back to our base. Those points put us over the edge and put the rest of the game out of reach. I was exhausted after walking back to our HQ that I could not go back out for the last 45 minutes or so...

All in all, it was a great time! I am so glad that I did not judge the event after the first few hours because I would have missed out on all the fun. It taught me a valuable lesson about playing through till the end. Jester, you were a good CO. Stop fishing for compliments!! You at least read the rules this time!!! I told you from the start that I did not envy your job and had the up most respect for you. Comms and missions could have been better relayed but you are not going to see me complain (Much)! With a group like we had and the number of experienced players under your command, you could get away with letting them run themselves. You could tell that SC could not because when their CO stepped off the field they did not know what to do. I do not think that is why they lost in the end because I do not think they had a chance of winning, but it was some sort of a factor!

Goose, It was a pleasure running with your guys. You are one serious cat but you will make a good Army officer one day!

To all the SS people that I got to meet and others that I crossed paths with, I wish I got to spend more time with ya'll, my only regret is that I did not branch out more from holding the part of the map we did all 24 hours!

Diesel and the other Admins: You did a stand up job for being understaffed. I know you were sick of hearing from me but you responded to everything quickly and fairly.

To the guy who hit me with the red truck doing 25 miles an hour. If I find you, I will not have mercy for you. You almost ended a 7 year-old life and gave me a bruise and injury that I will not soon forget! You almost gave your SC brothers a bad name and there is no room for someone as irresponsible as you in a sport/game like this!

Ok here is the complaint and suggestion part of this report:

When the rules change, people on the field need to know! If there is a field wide cease fire called (which should be ONLY done in emergencies) it needs to be told to ALL channels on the comms by either the admins or the CO. We had no idea when one was on or when they were off or ANYTHING! I also had no idea SC got a CO back and that the rules about them not being able to be captured were back on! These are things that need to be told to EVERYONE!

The team flags at the bases should have different color chem lights on them at night. This was you can tell at night who owns a base and who doesn't.

Last suggestion is there should have been some sort of final meet and greet at the end of the event. It kind of felt like it was "Ok nice game, not get your crap and get out. You don't have to go home but you can't stay here!" Ok maybe not THAT harsh, but just a bit to say thank you for coming and here is the final score would have been nice! But that is so small of a "gripe" that it is hardly worth bringing up.

SC put up a good fight. I see them talking about how the loss was because of the command structure breaking down. That might have had something to do with it, but I think it is more the fact that we had many more hard core and experience players then they did. We did not have many "day player" kids there. Everyone who showed up was ready for a fight after they drove 3-6 hours to get there!

I don't know that I can wait a whole year for a rematch. I say we team up with SC to challenge NC or TN to a border war in the fall!!!

Thanks again to all for some great memories. I am VERY proud of my group of "old guys" who were just formed up as a team in the few weeks prior. We worked together well and kept up with the young kids with no problems. I am paying for it now but I have nothing but pride for the roll we played!

    See ya'll next time,

    Brandon

That's nuts that you got hit by that truck! Me and Takfire did our fair share of running into the trees to get out of its way! That dude was nuts! Sorry I didn't get to meet many people! I left at the dinner break because of family obligations.

Yeah, I would like to point out that while our guy started a fire in a truck, their guys almost killed a kid, hit Brandon with a truck, and shot a player up so bad he had blood all over his face. In light of that I'd say we conducted ourselves pretty well.

I did my fair share of diving into the tree line when that truck came driving around. Even though I was in any danger, the speed it which he passed me, made me question some stuff.

Also if you dont mind answering, what happend that our player who got shot up bloody? I heard it was just a misunderstanding of who was out.

Im not complaining...I had a great time...just brainstorming for the next one..

The "camping" areas should NOT be in the field of play. Thats a bad mistake and could have easily ended up with someone injured more than just thier feelings.

And we need to build much better "bases" than they had. Pretty plain and too basic, no proper fields of fire, ect...Im a professional carpenter now, Im more than willing to build stuff. In fact, Fallout has inspired me to build a tank.

I WAS JOKING WITH YA!!! Now I see why your wife drives the truck and you drive an X-tera!!! Wink

Ok to clear some things up, Yes I got grazed with the truck and hit by the mirror. It really was not that bad. My hip hurts a bit and has a bruise on it but not like I went over the roof. What would have been really bad is one of the 7 year-old boys that was running with us was in the middle of the road and would have gotten hit! THAT is what I am pissed about. And yes, I almost went postal on him if I could have caught him but I tried to slow him down when I was in front of him but he did not even let off the gas! But I heard he got a good tongue lashing and kicked out. I just hope that his SC brothers remember him and don't condone that behavior again. I am pretty sure most of the GA field operators would have banned him for life if it had been on their field.

Okay, first of all the camping area was, in fact, in play. However, you also had the option to camp in the parking lot, which was not in play.

As for the guy who got shot up, I spoke to him right after as well as a couple witnesses. Apparently he shot an SC guy clean a couple times in the chest. That guy then ran over, accused him of blind firing, and blasted him on full auto. His face and arms got torn up. I called an admin over, who took his story and told him to wait in the parking lot until the dinner break (only a half hour away at this point) to point out the guy who did it. I guess the Ga player was like "no harm, no foul" because he left before speaking to the admin again.

I got some info on who the SC guy may be, but I'm not going to spread it around. I spoke with his team leader who is looking into it. I have his assurance that it will be dealt with if it's one of his guys.

AAR / review of GA vs SC Delimitation Conflict - Page 3 Empty Spearhead's AAR

    Post  AK-Andrew 20.04.11 2:11

Ok back to the AARs...Heres a long one.:

Heres my own AAR of the SC game. I ran so many missions that its all a blur, but heres some of what I remember seeing:

Sat 1205hrs: Our unit, AARP< was attached to 75th TF Dagger for the initial assault under the command of their platoon leader Goose. Our mission was to take and hold J-9, a faraway important spawn base near the righthand gap into the SC mainbase. It would certainly be held by the enemy in force before we arrived.
Instead of backtracking along the powerlines and using the roads, Goose ordered a crosscountry trek straight at the objective. Because of the very dense forrest area, ripe with spring growth, the wedge formations we started in soon evolved into line. I was running point for the unit.
We made good time and right before we hit the main road on our diagonal march, we had contact on our left with the advance elements of SC forces driving around J-Davis. We engaged briefly, then disengaged due East, outrunning the enemy and ending up about 100m SE of the Objective, J-9.
TFD(ref) then assaulted the objective uphill from 2 sides wiping out 10-12 enemy and securing the base. Goose ordered a perimeter and we soon began to engage SC reinforcements streaming along the main road in front of J-9. We had our first battles with the SC Duce1/2.
I began to push further and further north of J-9, ending up with other scouting elements at the very mouth of the SC base. By this time we locked down the road mouth and shot every SC reinforcement streaming in. During a battle in the Eastmost field, I shot their CO point blank, full auto in the chest, but misidentified him as just a Joe. I was looking for a guy with a pony tail as their Commander. I never knew til later.
SC began to fight back hard out of the base, and I got pushed across the road into the bad briar area in front of SC's base. I was there then with Rhino and Tak from Airdog, and we 3 dug in along the treeline along the field facing South. SC then rolled out the Duce, very slowly along the treeline in front of us. I was far right on the line and heard Rhino engage. I was sure they got him and started spraying at Tak. I broke cover and set up 30m back in a place only Brer Rabbit would go and waited for the truck to pass. They sent two into the woods to get me, but I got them. Then I just wanted out of there. I thought all our guys had been shot and SC had overrun the area. I started moving due West. I ambushed 3 more enemy reinforcements on the trails, but I didnt want to Rambo around like an idiot, I just wanted back to my team, who I had no commo with and I thought were dead.
Then I got stupid impatiant and messed up bad, stepping out into a road infront of 5 SC soldiers. DEad.

I walked back towards J-9 just to see who held it, and to my suprise, TFD(r) still held it and Goose was still screaming for orders from higher up. So I respawned and jumped back in the fight.
At this point, alot of events come together like a soup in my mind. The crazy enemy truck driver hauling a$s, our team capturing their duce at the gate and pulverizing their main base, AARP vs enemy tank, dance of death, pulverizing the main base, ect, ect,..

1700hrs I dont remember how I got there at all, but near the 1st day time limit, I ended up at Lincoln's Hold with PoopDaddy and his NightCrawler Team from Airdog. About 7 of us held it. After we repulsed a few enemy recon elements, the enemy sent a truck in. We wasted everyone in it with a quickness. Lord have mercy they got lit. For the remainder of the time we fought off a hot-gunned enemy force attacking us along the river. We held and ran them off by the time limit. We also recovered 3 SC flags left in the base and marched them to our camp. Break Time.

2020hrs: For the first night mission, AARP (now detached from Dagger) was reinforced with several troops.
We moved North from Swamp Allie base along the river, eventually cutting up a gully that intersects to the backside of J-9. The enemy was seen to be holding the base in force. A firefight broke out between us and at the same time the base seemed to also come under attack from the South, along the road. One of our lead elements was then tricked by enemy forces giving the GA password, leading to their deaths of several of our soldiers. By the time we could rally with elements of Airdog on the main road, the enemy was dug in too deep at J-9 for a frontal assault.
The next hours are hazy again, (hey thats AARP, you know) but at some point we reunited with TFD Dagger and picked up a GPS mission. A hour of intense searching in the woods near the expected site turned up nothing. With addition clues Goose was able to find a GA flag in the main field and got the mission to take it to J. Davis.
Goose and I set out alone straight for J Davis, avoiding the main roads. Then for the only time, night or day, I got LLMF (lost like a ..) We overshot J. Davis and ended up on the East River. We follwed it down to our main base and then took 5mikes to regear.
We set off again for J. Davis, a central base in thick woods at a double time. There was no way to know at this point who held J Davis, so we had to approach with caution. It was unoccupied. We split up to defend it until the next index. I took the tower overlooking the road. Two large enemy groups advanced on us but neither could locate the hidden forrest base. We then got the index from Admin and abandoned the base.
By then it was about 0300hrs.
Several AARP elements then bedded their old a$$es down in bases until dawn. Our Platoon leader, Brandon: Codename: Colorado Slim, drove on all night, fighting and staying on top of the whole battlefield situation.

    Sunday

0700hrs. Our first mission was to advance to J. Davis and take it from the enemy if held. We found it empty, occupied it, and set up a perimeter. We were soon joined by The Nightcrawlers which greatly increased our firepower at the base. The mission from higher up was to protect a briefcase that was inside the J. Davis base.
At first we began to eliminate the enemy scouts, crawing toward the base. The enemy came in many waves that morning but the combined firepower of AARP and the NightCrawlers repelled every attack.
Eventually all enemy attacks trickled off, we heard TDF had captured the other case, and our lead elements began to push deeper due East
toward Lincon's hold. Our scouts were engaging the enemy OP/LPs when a friendly assault was launched on Lincoln from the North. Our combined efforts routed the enemy from the base, eliminating all SC forces.
At this point SC was basically non-existant on the field. Only 30 min or so remained, and we mainly just strolled around, kind of basking in the victory we knew was ours.

I had such a great time...lots of new friends, and Im physically spent.
AARP: For a new bunch of old guys we definately held our own all weekend. *Brandon did a hellofa job as our platoon leader, he's hardcore for sure. Unbeleivable display of stamina and levelheaded leadership. *G-force element are a killing machine, and can stalk like cats.*Merik is an assassin, kneecapping enemys under the duce and such trickshots. *Carl is truly a razersharp scout and the *Mini-Medic saved our a$$ too many times to count. He was outstanding in his job and utterly cool under the most extreme fire. And *Halfstar and all the guys attached to us throughout were all great players. Everyone showed motivation and Everyone did Georgia proud.
Personally, I was glad to spend a good bit of time fighting with both Nightcrawlers and 75th TF Dagger. I do wish I could have been around the tank more.

And I was a little worried because its been along time for me since I was doing any of these kinds of things in the woods. I lost alot of fieldcraft I think in 15 yrs of inactivity, but some of the stuff is like riding a bike I guess. I didnt lead any group into a single ambush, and only got off my intended track twice (both at night). I got hit and killed several times, but just once all weekend did I really get got good. And I got alot of nice satisfying kills. Want to do it again soon!

Thanks. Im certainly not hoping to attain anything like your masterful wheeled AFV, but I like to build stuff and I got a platform for it for free a couple of days ago.
Its an old front-engine riding mower. Will present a ton of design challenges, but thats OK...what I want. Im stripping it to the frame right now while I think about the crew layout.
Can you give me a link to pics/discussion of your build?

    Thanks!

You built the tank on a gas club car frame right?

Correct, it is a tired 1995 Club Car DS gasser under the shell. Stock 1 cylinder 286cc Kawasaki engine.
Strip as much useless crap off as possible, try to keep your build light and stiff. I used a truss frame (lots of triangles) built of mostly pressure treated 2x2's held together with 3" treated deck screws, bolted straight to the chassis through some heavier crossmembers where the old bumpers and windshield used to be, and then clad it with a mix of aluminum sheet metal and 1/8" UV stabilized PVC sheet stock to give it some tensile/torsional strength (plywood is heavy and rots easily). Lots of screws and pre-drilled holes. Keep it small and light for maneuverability and remember you'll need to load it, haul it, tow it, etc.
I'll see if I can dig up some pics of it "in progress" and PM them to you.

The rear engine mowers are generally a better choice for your mule vs front engine, but I understand you have to work with what you got. Watch out for the narrow wheel track, it will want to tip over easily. We even have had a little trouble with that on our tank. Nothing sucks quite as bad and rolling it over with you in it.
