Unless you want to "lock" the screws don't do it.

Re: opening a Mech Box
I put it back while im putting mechbox back together.
I first place the spring with the SHORT 90* end going into the small hole that holds the spring in place. Then I assemble the trigger with the zinc peice already attached to the nub on the actual trigger. DO NOT try to put the trigger into the holes on the one side of the shell. Once I get the spring guide inside of the groove on the top shell piece (right side) I manuever the trigger into the guide holes while applying pressure. You also have to watch your anti-reversal latch adjacent to the bevel gear. Its a trick but once you get the anti-reversal latch set its all down hill.

Yes Trent is right, you do not HAVE to use any loctite but I would highly recommend it, I use the blue loctite every time I close up my gearboxes.

I pu my MB back together. when i fire it smells like somethings burning, the trigger pull is weird now, and the black piece on top isnt on, along with like 20other problems.

Re: opening a Mech Box
Sounds like you way over shimmed your gears causing the motor to have to work to hard thus over heating..... I never suggest anyone to open a mech box unless they are very good with mechanics...

Yeah dude the trigger pull might be just the wiring getting in the way of the trigger, but overshimming is common when doing it, you should be able to screw the gearbox together and the gears should freely spin with a push and have no resistance at all.

Re: opening a Mech Box
Remember, shimming is trial and error, Will. And when your in the trial process, you don't have anything in the gearbox except your gears, and your trigger assembly. I also remember you saying "So you put the same # of shims on each side" no you do not. The shim thickness needed will depend on variations in your gear axle.
There should be no resistance at all when you are testing your shim job. The only resistance the motor was really designed for is the spring.

Airsoft gearboxes are very easy to work with, I had to only help my 11 year old friend (my boss's son) a small amount with some of the tricks to take down the gun. Anyone can do it.

They are very easy for someone who has a MECHANICAL mind, I have some friends that cant even figure out how to take apart a pen and get it back together, so if taking apart a pen is difficult I would recommend not taking apart a gearbox.

Re: opening a Mech Box
As someone who is learning this art, I would make one suggestion to those who wish to learn also. Don't just know how to take a gun apart and put it back together, but learn and UNDERSTAND the function of every piece in the mech box. Learn the names of the pieces, and the precise function each performs. If you understand what each piece does, then how each piece works together to propel a bb, then you are part of the way there. Then get someone to sit down with you and walk you through it.
OR
Crack it open and take your chances. But don't lose any parts when you try this method, cause when you take it to Rhino to have him out it back together, every piece you are missing costs.

Yes. understanding what each peice does helps you diagnose problems sometimes before you even open up your gearbox, which saves you time and money, and makes it easier to know what parts you need to order if something breaks.frog wrote: learn and UNDERSTAND the function of every piece in the mech box. Re: opening a Mech Box
I'll do it for 30, I have 2 v3 guns (one dissembled waiting on a pinion gear) with a 3rd potentially on the way and 2 v2 guns right now with a third potentially on the way.
